Hmmm it's probably not too unlikely - I have several emails - for work, for business, for personal, for being too lazy to shut them down and tell people ..... same with FB pages - I quickly opened a second one when a knob at where I was working reported one of our colleagues for daring to go out and buy a loaf of bread when she was off sick one day - I mean, god forbid that she shouldn't starve when too sick to work! So I pretty much recommend people have a "friends and family" and a "work" FB page ... The name thing is a bit bizarre - but many folks that age took on double barrelled when they got married - it's not clear if she did or not - and then would drop down to one - or keep their maiden name for work purposes coz it's easier .... I'm not giving her a free rein - and I've got to admit, I'm far too normal and lazy to ever set up an email account to stalk someone from and send that many messages - and holy poo - I'd never send them from a phone - you can tell when I'm writing on the computer or on a phone just from the length - but then maybe I'm just too lazy to put this much effort into doing anything that's mean-spirited and nasty ....(and I'm too nice!) Not sent on my iPhone

Yes - I found the total lack of knowledge disappointing really - at the very least he should have prepared himself in knowing the basics - like the UK is not just one country and one legal system and how Parliamentary Committee hearings work - I wouldn't mind so much, but before he went on, I'd mentioned a couple of tiny corrections in his comments before and, whilst I appreciate that no-one has time to read their comments, I wasn't the only one - and it would have stopped him looking quite so ignorant. LOL plus, being asked to be on Piers is rather like being asked to the opening of an envelope - a low low bar ....and one has to weigh up whether or not one wants to lose one's reputation by not walking over it!

2 major issues: 1. SHE exposed herself to the mainstream. Most people wouldn’t have thought twice about it. The second she went on the PM interview SHE exposed herself to the world. 2. Even to the layman, it was incredibly apparent in the PM interview she was lying. Idk whether she was lying about being a stalker but she WAS lying in what would be easy answers. It had nothing to do with no media training and everything to do with her apparent narcissism. The questions being asked about her and her mental state are NOT bc of the Netflix series, they are from her answers in the PM interview. Im sorry but that’s completely on her.

That doesn’t mean she was convicted but if she sent all of the emails, and calls and tweets, if she followed him and made his life hell, here in the great state of Mississippi, that’s criminal. Maybe not in the UK or CA where Mark is based but most places it is.

To address the situation, Netflix could simply deny Fiona Harvey's claim of being the real Martha. For Fiona Harvey to succeed, she would need to prove that all the allegations in the show are true for her character. If she managed to do so, it would validate Netflix's portrayal as a true story, rendering the entire debate moot.

Also, the Netflix executive in a UK parliamentary select committee clearly states “this is a true story about a convicted stalker”, also he states that it was not right to change the events (other than names and minor details) because Richard Gadd has a right to tell his story about his experiences. Between the end credits declaring parts of the story were fictionalized and her other past victims speaking up and confirming that she stalked them, it’s not looking good. There was a comment from someone (just making sure I’m not taking credit for this opinion) that said having Martha plead guilty in the Netflix show actually made her look sympathetic. They changed her name, the pub's name, the length of time the stalking went on for, the media used in sending the messages... the court scene & conviction could have just been another thing changed on purpose to hide the identity. I am actually glad that this keeps going. I am hoping that laws and police policies about stalking will get taken more seriously. Domestic violence used to not ever get taken seriously - it used to be a private marital issue - where the police would just show up and usually side with the husband and just tell them to keep the noise level down. It wasn't until Tracey Thurman, who was severely beaten by her husband and left paralyzed, was the 1st woman to sue the city because the police didn't take any complaints seriously that more laws were put into place. There are a number of deaths that have resulted from stalking - so it needs to be taken in the same seriousness.

No, Netflix will have to prove the events depicted are true, otherwise they will be guilty of defamation. The burden of proof is on the side making the claim that is defamatory otherwise how does someone prove that something did not happen? Very difficult to prove a negative.

Agree 💯 %. Can you imagine any lawyer dealing with her, when she thinks she's the most intelligent person in the room. She'd never listen long enough to their advice. They'd say 1 innocent word she wouldn't like , then boom - she'd be stalking & abusing them. By the way she's unemployed now, was unemployed when she was stalking Richard 2014 onwards, unemployed 1997 when she was sacked after less than a week - so she started stalking & abusing lawyer Laura Wray who hired her. Nothing against being unemployed. It's that she spouts being a lawyer but has no references from any law firm.

Here’s the thing that I know no one wants to hear lol but Netflix did state some of the story has been dramatized. Yes they said it in the credits; however, that might give Netflix some leeway in being legally responsible for what’s in the series. As far as care to protect her identity, meh yeah people found her based on those tweets but she’s the one that came forward. Also her behaviors since coming forward are really unhinged and proves that she’s unhinged. She’s not doing herself any favors to claim that she’s not a stalker 😂

She gives herself too much credit. It's AH who is the most hated woman in the world, now followed by Markle. If she has never been convicted she has a case, the fact it was so easy to find her helps her case. She seems to have a lot of problems, but so does Richard Gadd for continuously going back for more, and encouraging her. These two need serious therapy.

I am supposed to believe she is a lawyer? She is failing at 2nd grade spelling! On top of that, if she is as she states, she would not notify via social media her intentions regarding court. Mosy lawyers her age do not act as she does. She is way too immature. When the firm she works for blows then it'll get real serious, they probably don't know about it yet. Not good advertizing that your firm hired her.
