I had a 92 OBS that always leaked oil after a fresh oil change. It would misfire because oil would leak out of the valve covers and make its way into the spark plug threads. Changed the oil pan gasket and the valve cover gaskets. After that the oil leaks went away. I personally think the GMT800 platform is better, but when they start having electrical issues or computer issues, then they become a pain in the nuts.

I currently have an 88 obs with the tbi 305, and I'm running into what I believe to be ecm issues, I've replaced it once already, it was replaced before I owned it, and now it's screwing up again. Barely runs. I've done everything else you can think of. So I feel the electronic issues...

@@natewj1077Yup. Even the GMT400’s are prone to having electrical issues, although it’s alot less common than GMT800’s electrical issues.

Hey man love your videos and your since of humor! Very entertaining keep it up. I had the exact same problem with my 95, replaced just about everything you did and tested for vacuum leaks and still had the misfire at random when up to operating temp. I ended up bumping the timing up just a hair and it runs perfect now. Previous owner stabbed the new distributor and set the timing without disconnecting the spark advance and it would run fine until it got warmed up. May or may not be your issue but thought I would share because I chased the issue for months and it was very frustrating so I feel your pain. Hope this helps

Man I really appreciate this. I was actually wondering if it was timing related. And it never misfires and any type of rpm besides idle. I’ll look into it for sure

I’m missing that tube where your breather is. Was like that when I bought the truck couple years ago. I never put a breather on it. It’s just gonna stay like that I guess 🤷‍♂️

I mean it’s just an open hole in your valve cover so I would at least put a breather in it to keep stuff from potentially getting in there😂

Your pcv valve hose has passages under the tbi . They can build up with carbon. You can either remove the tbi or you can spray carb cleaner in the PVC hose while it's running and douch the hell out of it. Spray some down the tbi throttle blades too.

Check you EGR valve. Make sure it's not clogged with soot. If it was a Vortec I'd have more suggestions but I know about those TBI's

One thing to check is you pcv hose. That can get plugged up too. Kinda far out there but maybe the oil sloshed into the breather when accelerating fast or something and saturated it??? Theres supposed to be a baffle on the inside of the valve cover to stop that though. Also, you don't have to one up yourself every video. Its nowhere near as fun to watch someone forcing themselves to produce "better" content than it is to watch that same person make a video where they are just having a good time. Just have fun making the videos, if you aren't having fun theres a pretty good chance its not going to be as fun to watch

I mean that’s for sure not a bad idea. But yea there is a baffle on the pcv hose side but not for the driver side. No idea why. And I really appreciate that man. I mean I have to agree tho. And it’s for sure way mor enjoyable for me to make videos when I’m just doing something I enjoy vs holding myself to a way unnecessarily high standard oh making the “best” content in my eyes. I recommend putting on the MSD cap and rotor. The MSD ignition Coil and MSD Sparkplug wires. My OBS is running great after installing what I just mentioned.
