She Moved Through The Fair - Anthony Kearns
Музыка
Anthony Kearns singing She Moved Throught The Fair.
My young love said to me, my mother won´t mind
And my father won´t slight you for your lack of kine,
And she stepped away from me and this she did say,
It will not be long love ´til our wedding day.
She stepped away from me and she moved through the fair,
And fondly I watched her move here and move there,
Then she went her way homeward with one star awake,
As the swan in the evening moves over the lake.
The people were saying no two were e´er wed,
But one has a sorrow that never was said,
And I smiled as she passed with her goods and her gear,
And that was the last that I saw of my dear.
I dreamt it last night that my young love came in,
So softly she entered her feet made no din,
She came close beside me and this she did say,
It will not be long love ´til our wedding day.

This is the best tenor I have ever heard. What a talent.
I wish they would do this song more often. So hauntingly beautiful.
Bravo young man.Love you always. The opitome of grace and greatness.
when a singer becomes the song and the song the singer, magic happens
He is superb. Anthony has such an effortlessly beautiful voice. I think this talent is truly God-given. Thank you God for such a gift.
Anthony's voice is so achingly beautiful here.
He brings so much emotion to his singing. i have to say that hearing him sing in person is that much better!!!!
Anthony Kearns : What A Beautiful Gift Of Music. 🎶
How can some of the foregoing commentators compare Irish tenor voices and say which is better. They are all unique and beautiful instruments and in my humble opinion Irish music through the ages have allowed tenors like the above to express the cultural and historical romanticism that is the poetry of Ireland.
BEAUTIFUL PRESENTATION OF THIS OLD IRISH FOLK SONG MY FRIEND... I LOVE IT! BLESSINGS..
I got to see this man sing in a pub in Dublin and I had no idea who he was, but all I knew was that he was AMAZING and his voice is amazing
Cannot explained,I feel something very deep here in my heart when I hear this music. been form english and scottish blood (as well as german and italian), I was raised in Perú,but still...what can I say?(is like some old,old life from long before,???...mmm), don't understand this,...but for sure I like very much tenor Anthony Kearns singing.Bravoo!!!!

You must have some Irish blood in you.
Now, that's how to sing a song! WOW!
My Mum's favourite song...
Beautiful.
Just beautiful, thanks for posting.
yes, he is a great singer, I'm off now to hear him sing another ballad "The Croppy Boy".
I first heard a small extract of this song in The Priests -concert and totally fell for it, I simply had to search this song... and this performance really stole my heart completely... utterly beautiful...
Pulled me into it from the first line.
Lovely, lovely. Its a testament to Anthony's musical skills that he can shift modes from a Bel Canto tenor (with almost a baritone range, I've heard) --to this mode..... almost no classically-trained opera folk can do this....
Very nice Mr Kearns
Me parece que tienes una voz extraordinaria. Felicidades por tu buen hacer como cantante.
EXACYLY as I was taught ot.. ERIN GO BRAGH
a nice bit of class, machree01.
The best version I've found yet! Other great interpretations of this song are by Alfred Deller and by Andreas Scholl. But Kearns combines Deller's feeling for the melody with Scholl's vocal perfection. Bravo!

Celtic Women is a nice woman’s version, but I agree this is a great version by a man, lots of them are awful
How is it that this man never made a solo album? Ronan, John McCormick & Finbar of the Irish Tenors are great singers but AK was the best IMHO.

Jim BearNJ he’s got one.
Yes, he has, and the melancholy quality of his voice can really bring out sadness the character feels knowing that his fiancee has died and her ghost comes to tell him they'll be married soon. Which to me means he's going to die, too.
Why is this man not a household name?

+Jennifer T:-- So too have I wondered the same thing. Most likely because for unknown reasons he has bypassed the big production of choice CD's. My wife and I have attended many of his midwestern performances and i cannot think of one that i would not have paid $100 for a remembrance platter. Stunning talent!!

@@sgtskysyndrome My sentiments exactly Tim!
Huh? Who do you think should sing it?
Who doesn’t like??? Tone deaf???? Your taste in your mouth?????
There's no doubt his voice is a good instrument, but this rendition was completely devoid of emotion. He sounded as if he was afraid to vary his pace or emphasis, which is absolutey necessary to draw out the narrative. John McCormack had all the control in the world but managed to colour the song by giving something of himself to the singing of it.
He is really a very good singer and I like his voice! But it's definitely a song that can not be sung from a tenor. This version is too clean. A classical singer don't match with this kind of song.
