    Parliamentarians found to be corrupt should lose all privileges and pension that they have accrued from time in office. The cushy life that is provided for, by us taxpayers being possibly stripped from them may well see quite a few politicians be a bit more ethical and honest with the important decisions they make. Such a rule is a real no-brainer and something that I’m sure would be supported by a large majority of the public. Gladys Bin Chicken has blown enough of our hard earned pork barreling and throwing cash at any suggestion her loser “boss” boyfriend cooked up after sinking beers at his local before boasting of the damage he was going to do her her insides with his trouser snake. • @davidbrown4849

    Because evidence given in the ICAC is (usually) not admissible in a court - the ICAC (not a court) is saying they don't think the rules of evidence would mean there is enough for a court to find guilt. The director of public prosecutions might take a different view, but that's unlikely. Lying to the ICAC _is_ a crime and that's how they whack many wrong doers.

    I am interested in the topic of public transportation in our city, and this verdict only deepens my belief that the decisions in regard to the train network were made to line their pockets. Building Beautifully recently made a video about the Parramatta Light Rail, which brought attention to the fact that the feasibility studies recommended routes between Parramatta and Macquarie Park, and another branch to Castle Hill. A route, which would've provided multiple interchanges with other modes of transit. Moreover, the government had ALREADY RESERVED LAND for the Eastwood County Road, which would've been utilised for this light rail. BOTH of the branches, adjusted for inflation would've cost us $1.9B vs the $2.4B spent for just one branch of the currently built system. Additionally, extending the current system to Epping, so it provides any benefit may be too expensive. The official reason for this was that the route provided "low opportunities for urban renewal", which is hard to believe as all of the areas mentioned are developing fast. Additionally, the new Sydney Metro lines will run trains that are completely incompatible with the current network due to requiring a different power source. Now imagine that some trains start developing cracks and need to be taken off the line for 18 months with no replacement.

  • @fraserhughes4502

    @fraserhughes4502

    Жыл бұрын

    Hold up, the new trains have different power sources than the currently operated ones? As an engineer, this is what we in the industry call "fucking stupid" and "asking for trouble". Uniformity across large infrastructure systems is critically important. Costs will blow up the moment any maintenance needs to happen since they'll need an entirely new parts pipeline for them, new operating procedures, new safety guidelines.... And it's introducing even more chance for human error when it comes to maintenance.

I occasionally have to do ICAM investigations for work, recently I got an email from another site of ours asking for an ICAM on an incident, "Oh & can we have it by Close of business today", well no you can't they take longer than that. I got that bloke to come over the next day, after 2 hours he said I now understand how much is involved in these investigations. In the end, fast tracked (I still had my own work to do) the investigation was finished one week later.
