She Got Married To Run Away From A Dysfunctional Home

Ойын-сауық

Today on Unfiltered Stories, Alana Hergert shares her moving story of survival and transformation. Raised in extreme poverty in India, she lived in a one-room home, often lacking basic necessities like food and clean clothes. Moving frequently among relatives for support, Alana faced unimaginable challenges and received little affection from her parents. Her life took a pivotal turn when she met an American online, leading to a marriage that allowed her to escape her harsh upbringing. Join us to hear how Alana overcame difficult circumstances to build a new life.

The first time I saw this girl I thought she was naturally stunning, yet in India she is considered ugly.. What is wrong with that culture????

Hey This is my story , I’m very grateful that God brought this opportunity to share with people through unfiltered stories , I want to make a clarification here that I didn’t get married to run away from my family as I didn’t know even know that I was getting abused by them untill my husband came in my life and after I opened with him , he educated me and helped me to see how toxic my family was so I just want this to be here because I love my husband and he is my biggest support, he is a blessing. And Thank you everyone for relating and speaking so many kind words , I really appreciate! God bless you all

Kingdom Blessings to you, your husband and your beautiful family. I faced the same things except the excess abuse. I am a CSA survivor also, born in a Muslim family, and cut all ties with all of them when I was 24yo for the same reasons, after I started dating my now husband of 26 years and gradually converted to Christianity. Death threats, blackmail, isolation, rejection, yeah I got all that... I was told that I would never amount to anything good, that I would go to hell, that my life is a mountain of human waste, etc... But here I am today with three children in university and doing all right. I learnt of the passings of my parents on the internet, through my siblings social medias. I mourned for both of them, was sad for a few days then kept going... Went through far worse than their losses, so it didn't cut me that much. I'm 51 today, happily married, and I am glad to live with JESUS. HALLALUYAH 😁👏🕊️🐑🦁🕎✝️! Remain blessed and thank you for sharing! You are Precious in HIS EYES, and that's all that matters

Unfortunately, there are many who end up very badly. After getting abused from outside family shows their dark side too...! I wish her all the best. ❤❤❤❤ I know many girl who suffered same kind of abuse.

Born and brought up in India, I understand her completely... Discrimination on the basis of skin colour, being called black, being told ugly that no one will marry you....... It's so common in India for girls to hear it... Being treated second grade if you have brother... I was just surprised at her accent in the beginning...but then I noticed it's acquired... Hopefully life treats her fairly in future...

If there is a way to report all those who abused you, I would encourage you to do so. All those people who harmed you should be held accountable for what they did to you and so that they will be prevented from harming anyone else, especially a child. God bless you and may he always keep you and your loved ones safe. ❤️

I am from Sri Lanka. I experienced beauty remarks you got from my relatives too, especially in 70’s and 80’s . After western invasion, our people from our countries believed them as models. I was so happy when the first black woman was crowned as the Miss Universe. I am so sad for all what you faced. I am sure such things happen in disadvantaged households around the world. Especially in third world countries. That is why “Educating Girls” should be a major phenomenon in the world. Cause that same girl who is educated, is able to train her children and help them to be cultured disciplined people. Cause becoming a wife in a rich man’s household where there’s no discipline and boys are neglected to become rapists and thugs once again get the world caught up in the vicious cycle of violence and injustice towards women. May you be blessed and happy!

She was seen as "ugly" because she was dark skinned due to colonial influence on standards of beauty. The same issue is going on the United States. Whiteness (or the more European features and skin color inherited) is seen as more beautiful due to colonialism/racism. This is why most models and actresses are white or light skinned in the US. Colonial standards of beauty have also affected Latin America.
