She Gave Up On Singing But A Street Musician Changed Her Mind...

Музыка

When asking People to sing in New York City, I met Alex. Alex saw my sign and patiently waiting for her turn to sing. Even though she's a trained singer, she reveals to me that she does not want to identify as a singer-- she only wants to sing for fun. I tell her that she's come to the perfect place to sing for fun. Because this is "Sing WIth Me For Free."
Song: • The Shirelles- Will Yo...
As a musician, I'm all about creating musical experiences that have people feeling happy and free, and that's why the "Sing With Me for Free" series exists. Since 2018, I have asked thousands of random people to sing with me on camera. A lot of people have said no, some have said no initially but changed their minds to yes, and some have said yes right away. I ask these people to sing with one purpose: to create a way for them to experience a sense of happiness and freedom they did not feel before. And much of the time, this actually works (and that makes ME happy).

I wasn’t expecting how sweet and beautiful that woman’s voice was going to be. The perfect song choice for her. So happy you added your harmonies Reggie, along with the rhythm you played on your guitar. Absolutely loved it.

As a musician of over fifty years, the thing I have found most common in every person that I've ever met, is that they have a song in their heart somewhere and a compelling bond to music that they stifle at some point during their lives. It's sad, but Reggie, you sometimes give them their voice back in a safe way, and the world is better off for it and so are they.

My son is 13 and is singing all the time what ever song comes to his mind. It is really cute, like a little bird sometimes. The only "rule" we have is "don't sing at the table during meals", other than that he is singing all day long and he is so happy most of the time. Except when he is sick, but when he starts singing again you know he feels better. He doesn't want to be a singer or join a choir or anything. His grandpa gives him some piano lessons tho which he likes a lot.

I've waited to add any comment here for a couple of days. My heart is sort of stung hearing replies and stories from folks who relented throughout their lives and stuffed the intrinsic beauty of their voice and inner song with which each and everyone of us were all blessed with at birth only to find our gifts squelched by jealous and ignorant forces who were empty inside, and sought to empty the spectacular spark we all possess in order to not feel so alone in their bereft miserable experience. That's a harsh thing to say, but I've found it to be true over and over. So, what are we to do with the song in our hearts that we came to this place with that others might find objectionable, or attempt to discourage us from feeling that melody with abandon? My advise is that you recognize them, and then ignore them, and take a deep breath and drown out their miserable BS with your voice and gifted song. To all who may bother to read this comment, I pray this season brings to you all prosperity and a better understanding and acceptance of yourselves and those you love and embrace. This might sound weird to some folks, and I hope no offense is taken when I say: In the beginning, I don't believe that the King of the Universe spoke- "Let there be light". I believe He SANG all things into existence , and the timber and vibration of His melody is deeply imbedded in our DNA and individual being.

Oh my GOD Reggie! You are an extraordinarily charming soul, and you certainly can't imagine how you manage to bring breath to the hearts of different people spread across so many places in this vast world... I love watching the performances, which only fill my chest with hope for a much better world. ... It is so comforting to see your kindness result and blossom in smiles, for us, but also, for each one of those who venture out, and allow themselves to sing in your company... And today, what a pleasant surprise, we are gifted with the enchanted sweetness, in this beautiful girl by her side, combined with the also enchanting song Will You Love Me Tomorrow - The Shirelles (classic 60's rescued almost in the late 80's, when on the soundtrack of the cool and charming Dirty Dancing).. Here in Brazil (my country of origin), we lived for 4 years, under the regency of a reactionary and perverse president-elect Bolsonaro, the same one, that the great Bono Vox of U2, warned in a show, about the ominous shadow that hovered, around here; the one where the necessary Madonna, positioned herself with the famous phrase: #HE NO! adopted by us RESISTANCE... It was difficult, but we managed to re-elect the current new President LULA, a man wronged, imprisoned by right-wing extremists who dominated the country's seats of power, but that we are gradually purging, and everything is coming back, the something closer to normality and on the way to social repair... Discovering your fantastic channel Guitaro 5000 only helped me to connect with myself, in the midst of turmoil, and with music and everything fascinating that it can provide us. Very grateful always for your beautiful soul, your noble and charming work, in addition to coming across your beautiful man print, and also being able to enjoy, even from afar, with your kind nature ❤️ very happy, I 😁 and may God protect you forever and ever 🙌

Music has always been the catalyst and inspiration in lots of political movement as my country man, Bob Marley, has demonstrated throughout the years. His songs remain relevant even today, all over the world where oppression reigns. Reggie's music reminds us that we are all one people despite the color of our skin and we should remember that. "Singing is an access to freedom and happiness, whether you think it sounds good or not." ❤ Years ago a friend invited me to a jazz improv open mic night and asked me to sing. I was petrified of an audience so I told him I would come to listen but only to enjoy everyone else. The memory of being a child singing on stage once, stammering, freezing up, then literally running off stage mid song felt difficult to shake, even as an adult. Other times I'd sing songs to my dad but from behind the closed door of my closet only because I wanted to sing for him but couldn't bear being seen while singing. 😅 When I went to this open mic with my friend, he snuck up on stage and asked the band to call me up to the stage to sing. As I made my way to the stage I felt like I was maybe going to pass out or throw up. 😅 But then the oddest thing happened. A calm out of nowhere I knew had ever existed inside of me poured out of me. I sang a somewhat improvised song and I felt wonderful and comfortable while singing it. It ended up being one of the most enjoyable and fun nights of my life. I am so grateful to this friend of mine. He gave me the priceless gift of releasing that restricting anxiety and allowing me to own what I love, no matter what. I'm tearing up through many of your videos, to be honest. Raw emotion comes right out of the throat and when we're singing it can sometimes feel so vulnerable. So sometimes all we need is a little nudge and encouragement. You're giving these singers experiences that have probably changed their lives in big ways that they'll never forget. The gifts you are giving to individual souls and thus our collective soul is immeasurable, immensely healing, and endlessly valuable. Thank you so much for doing this, being you, and sharing this with us all, Reggie!

Once in a while ( if you are lucky) you meet a person that you never knew could naturally just sing ( in reality we all can ) My eldest daughter sung like that when she was young...but due to life's ways she never took her voice seriously to impart herself on that joyous road. This young lady has that same natural gift that my daughter has..raw and effortless melodies that just flow out from their soul and deliver such calm, serene and so very pleasing feelings. Young lady, I wish you the very best. I pray that you continue sharing your gift throughout your life and make people smile and be happy. Reggie, thank you providing a setting where people can share their unique gift with everyone.

No push or strain. Love the little flourishes in her interpretation.👏🏻 I place the emphases in other places when I sing it. Hmm…. Be well, Reggie. 4/25/23

✨💖✨Reggie’s videos always make me smile. This is a sad song for me-heartache years old, over 40 years. But when people tell you, “You’ll heal, you’ll get over it. The pain will go away.” But through life, I learned that isn’t so. You don’t get over loss and heartache. You just learn to live with it. Life, hopefully will bring you new happiness, but there will always be scars.

But I wonder how much those sad moments/events have shaped you into the soul you are today? I bet you have helped and given advice to others because you have walked a road they need not walk down. Maybe your road was painful yet necessary, I don't know. Maybe your life has benefited in other ways since your sadness. I wish you all joy, blessing and happiness. 40 years is a long time to live with a form of pain but I hope along that 40 year road you've had many, many reasons to smile and shine.
