Did you make sure that this person knew Arabic? Are you are implying that unless Quran is recited in Arabic, it is less than the truth of Quran. Am I wrong in coming to this conclusion? Or do you actually believe that the Arabic language is more Divine than other of God's (Allah's) languages? If you speak English to an English audience, then exhort to Quran in English. Millions people who do not know Arabic will die not knowing Arabic, but they will know Quran in their own language translated by those who knew Quranic Arabic. Does God say in Quran that unless you know Arabic , you will not got to paradise? Can you answer these questions?

Hey man. The Quran must be recited in arabic. It is hard to translate in other languages because the arabic language is more "deep" in the words that are used and we will never really find the equivalent of the Quran in other languages. However, after reciting the Quran in arabic we can explain the meaning in other languages. I'm pretty sure that after reciting the verse in arabic Abdeen would have explain the meaning in english to this lady :) Finally, Allah never says in Quran that you should know Arabic to go to paradise! In fact, it is better to learn arabic to understand the Quran better and every muslim should do it, but they can first discover the Quran translated in their language.

What is critical to understanding Quran more deeply is to immerse oneself in Quran in whatever language. By 'deeply immerse,' I mean study it, ponder on it, not part of it, but all of it. When one does that in any language, then ( if it is the will of the truly one, eternal, Infinite, incomparable, unconquerable independent, sole moving, Lord of all worlds-Allah) the Quran becomes more than a book read by the conscious mind. To me, when I open it with reverence ,hoping my heart is pure enough to not be cut off from it, and to recite it (in English) slowly, rhythmically and not loudly as instructed (in English) by Quran, the channels of guidance become open as if the Quran transforms into a two way communication device connecting me and God (Allah). What deeper understanding of Quran did Arabic provide Abdeen for him to ignore, not only 31:19 but also 17:110: 'Say (unto mankind): Cry unto Allah, or cry unto the Beneficent, unto whichsoever ye cry (it is the same). His are the most beautiful names. And thou (Muhammad), be not loud-voiced in thy worship nor yet silent therein, but follow a way between.' Truly knowing all of Quran in any language (all of which belong to Allah) gives one it's deeper understanding as , by Allah's will all of the dots of Quran's knowledge are connected. There are Christian Arabs that 'cherry pick' verses of the Quran, citing how , because of their Arabic, they extract deeper knowledge from those verses, only to discredit Quran. They cannot get way with it, if their audience knew the entire Quran in any language. These would call these Christian out for ignoring or concealing other verses of Quran that clarify that their conclusion from their referenced 'pet' Quranic verses are invalid. Also whether in Arabic or on any other language, there are ambiguous Quranic verses that are put in Quran by Allah to test to see who Is going to try make those ambiguities clear to mislead them from the path. That should not, according to Allah in His Quran Allah never says in Quran that one should know Arabic to fully understand Quran. Quran is a tool for the sincere pursuer in any language.
