No I heard drama about them on the subreddit, def a bot and I guess the situation has been looked at, apparently they had 400 wins on the leaderboards and would always snap guess the movie that was just played, then immediately pick the most obscure movie from the most obscure actor in the cast.. idk why but I guess people will cheat in any game with a leaderboard lol

Yeah, played them a few times too, always the same experience as previously mentioned with snap guessing the exact same movie even when it's not an obvious continuation, and then some weird obscure guess. I don't even bother with them, I just exit right away. Really pathetic to cheat at this game lol.

No fun to play against but I'm sure it was entertaining to puzzle out for whoever wrote the bot, presumably the author and the bot account being one in the same.

Realizing it's the 5th time this week I've heard all the bits and banter on librarians' channel. Staying to watch because I'm a cine2nerdle addict.

Just to feed the Algorithm: how this game works is you get a starting movie, and you and another player take turns trying to name a movie that one of the actors in the last movie was in (or that had the same director or writer) in under 20 seconds. If you can't, you lose unless you have a life-line. So, like, if you start with Avengers, you might say Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, because Robert Downey Jr is in both of them. And you opponent could say "Top Gun", because Val Kilmer is in Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang and Top Gun. Now, if you don't know anyone else in a movie, you can just use the same actor to leave (maybe you don't know Val Kilmer is in Top Gun, but you know that Robert Downey Jr is also in the movie Chef, because it's made by the guy who made Iron Man.) However, you can only use a given actor as a connection 3 times, hence the Xs that appear next to the names as you use them so, if you feel confident about a given actor, you can try and force your opponent into a trap, leaving them in an obscure movie, and without that actor to get out. In order to even out differences in film knowledge/balance the advantage of first player, each player gets a couple life-lines: You can "skip" a movie, telling the other player "I don't know anyone else in that movie, and I bet you don't either", forcing them to prove they know another actor, or else THEY will lose, and if both players skip on the same movie, it ends in a draw. You can also get a "cast" life-line, where the game will tell you the director, writer, and typically about a dozen actors in the movie. You get TWO cast life-lines if the other player gets the first move, in order to make sure they can't just use some super-obscure movie right out of the gate. Lastly, you can get an extra 15 seconds on any round, if you're struggling to remember a specific actor or movie. You can also ban your opponent from using up to 3 people at the start of the game, to help you set up traps or protect you from movie genres you know you're not good at. (However, Bans do not work on the either player's first move, in order to allow a clean exit from the starting movie.) tl;dr: just name a movie with the same actor, dude.

In terms of possibility, very easily. It's just a matter of ripping out the name of a movie, checking it in a database, then spitting out the name of a movie that shares an actor.

NL, coming from someone in college to be a teacher. Almost every teacher I work with has said the new generation is truly awful. Maybe it's an American thing but truly there's an epidemic of dumb kids
