Lionel was the becon of wisdom. Good or bad he taught everyone else truly valuable lessons.

I found it creepy that he was being all son and father with Clark. Basically he was replacing Lex with Clark, which is a very very very offensive thing for any child to seeing their parents replacing them with somebody else. It always grossed me out hearing Lionel calling Clark son.

Clark really was naive when it came to Lana. He was stupid enough to think she was some kind of innocent angel just because he had a teenage crush on her. Clark loved an idea of Lana and he was blind to what the real Lana Lang was like.

To borrow a line from a season 3 episode and changing it a little, "[Clark] was so in love with [Lana] that he just couldn't see the dark side of her persona.".

Yes, but she did start herself on the path of redemption. Remember Imra of the Legion told Lana that she is "remembered for a lot more than her relationship with Kal-El". EDIT I forgot that I posted another reply. LOL!

"Lana's incapable of doing something like that." Bullshit Clark. Just because you had a crush on her for years it doesn't make her a saint.

She was an innocent girl up to HS. It was after HS when she started to go rogue.

"If you're saying this because you think I'm wasting my time with Lana instead of pursuing some master-plan that Jor-El set out for me, that's my decision to make." When I saw this, my thought was, "Clark... that's EXACTLY what Lionel and EVERYONE WATCHING THIS SHOW have been trying to get through your thick skull!"

I love Lionel, he's the man. But I can see this now: Clark: "Why are you calling my mother?" Lionel: Sighs. "Well maybe if you called her more often, I wouldn't have to!" 😂😂😂

It was kind of funny that Lionel was the only person in the series to see Lana for the selfish manipulative bitch she was rather than the innocent victim Clark and most of the other characters believed her to be.

@LKSPR13 I don't consider Earth-2 Lionel Luthor to be Earth 1 Lionel Luthor. They're mirror opposites of each other. Where Earth 1 Lionel found redemption, and possibly salvation in the afterlife, Earth-2 Lionel Luthor found damnation and hopelessness as Darkseid's vessel.

I kinda loved the Lana gone bad, all in the name of protecting Clark. It would serve as a lesson for Clark about the women who love him. Each relationship he is in serve as a lesson to him and to prop him for Lois. Nah let Lois be a surprise for him. Though the idea that Lana and even Chloe going so bad that they kill for him would make Clark more Terrified of being in a relationship.
