I appreciate that you guys understand what Marisha actually went through during "the Cupcake Incident". So many Marisha-haters still insist, to this day, that she was either mad at losing the spotlight or just plain stoned.

The real reason it's taking so long is that they're working on two seasons lol.

I'm so happy to hear people talk about the Beauregard moment. The moment she almost stepped away is so powerful, but not enough people reference it because everyone focuses on what happens afterwards. Definitely Beau's most heart-breaking moment.

32:23 I love how Adam is just smiling excitedly, while Jay is being transported back to all these different iconic moments and experiencing all the different emotions that come with those moments.

I started Critical Role at the start of Campaign 2, so as great as Vox Machina are, the Mighty Nein will always be my babies.

The CR news all but guarantees that we'll get the full VM story animated. It's awesome that Prime has that much confidence in our nerdy ass voice actors.

Confidence is one thing. But Critical Role asks for anything-anything at all-and its fans throw money at them hand over fist. I know of few fandoms as fiercely passionate as CritRole fans, for better or worse in some cases. Amazon can practically smell what Critical Role could very easily become, and IS becoming now that LoVM is reaching audiences that never even once watched a CritRole episode. It's practically a money-printing factory. Amazon made that multiyear first-look deal with CR for very sound business reasons. Even if we assume Mighty Nein starts airing in 2 years, which if LoVM's release schedule so far is anything to go by, will be around the time LoVM season 4 is around, CritRole will have moved into Campaign 4 by that time. Between side-events that could be made into movies or animated specials(Dalen's Closet, EXU: Calamity, M9 Reunion, Search for Grog), Critical Role has like a decade's worth of content that an animated studio could churn out. The M9 campaign could easily end up being like 7-8 seasons on its own; keep in mind we're meeting Vox Machina in the animated series when they're already past the mid-game power level. By comparison, we're meeting the Nein when they're just a couple steps above commoners.

My journey with Critical Role started (and is still ongoing) with The Mighty Nein and I CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!

So a Calamity movie or Mini-Series? Cause the thought of either a 120 minute movie or a four part hour long mini-series gets me hyped beyond belief. Someone make either of these things happen please.

I absolutely agree with you on making an entire episode of Widowgasts Nascent Nein-Sided Tower. It was a huge love letter to the cast, had incredible imagination by Liam with all the fey cats and even had Der Katzenrpinz which was an amazing short novel by Liam. That game deserves its own episode. 100 percent.

Fun fact for Jay and Adam, that big ol dragon is named Themberchaud and he shows up in the Out of the Abyss Adventure Module for 5e! The thing I'm most intrigued about for the Mighty Nein, is how they will fill out the uh...parts where the momentum just STOPS about halfway/two-thirds in, cuz I love the M9, but the middle of that campaign was a LOT of faffing and dead air, and LoVM has had amazing pacing so who knows!

18:31 I distinctly remember seeing Adam grinning like a loon at Jay while the Guardians of the Globe were waiting for Omni-Man. That “I know what’s about to happen and he’s not ready for it” smile is just fun.

I truly would have loved to see you two react to the cupcake moment. I really would have loved to see Adam's reaction to Laura winning DnD. Lol.

Critical Role's deal with Amazon actually specifies allowing them to make content from outside the Exandria sphere as well, so my hope is that they basically become THE studio for translating RPG content (including Dimension 20 stuff) to the screen.

I would LOVE their Call Of Cthulu story that Talisen was DM for to be adapted at some point.

Teared up when they announced the M9 series. I’ve invested hundreds of hours and love them so so much. Glad they’ll be shared with a much larger audience now.

What's really cool is that Critical Role could help other creators out by helping to produce other shows through their meta-pigeon productions. It would be cool to see Dimension Twenty or High Rollers get some recognition too even if it's not a full on series, but a mini series.

I could 110% see Critical Role becoming a mid-level studio that brings things like Dimension 20 to screens around the world. They're already serving as the unofficial ambassador between the fans and the corporations.

Jay I'm there with you. That tower half episode was a love letter. That was the clearest love letter I have ever heard. And when I'm driving to visit my family that is one of my go tos to listen to because it is so good. there is just so much pure love in there. Also I hope you noticed the book prop in the announcement (one of my short go tos cause he just did it to make Laura and everyone happy)

The big fat dragon is most likely Themberchaud the Wyrmsmith, he was a red dragon that lived in the underdark and had a deal with the grey dwarves there to use his fire breath to light their forges and in turn they supplied him with protection and gold and food ect... this is from his wiki "He was attended to by the Keepers of the Flame, a monastic order of psionic duergar priests.[4][2] They obeyed his every whim, or at least those that fell within the terms of the pact between the dragon and House Steelshadow.[4] This included defending his hoard while he was away working at the forges. They kept him happy, rich, and fat on the city's more disobedient slaves[2][3] and guarded the entrance to his lair from a nearby guardhouse, though few would dare trespass in the dragon's lair.[1] He simply ate those who entered without the Keepers' permission.[8]"

I genuinely got tears in my eyes when I saw the reveal video for The Mighty Nein series coming to Prime. Simply because it was nothing I was expecting, at least this early in the game. All three groups from all three campaigns so far all mean so much to me in completely different ways... like, Vox Machina is my first born lol, my eldest, my baby. I was with that campaign since day one of them streaming that stuff when everything was so low budget and set up in some random room somewhere, so my emotions for VM and everything they went through just hits me the deepest. C2 is the one I had the most fun with because the characters were so much freaking fun and as a story I felt like Matt really elevated his creative power. So far with C3 I'm enjoying myself but I don't feel as connected to what's going on quite yet. I mainly just love Fearne and Laudna. Ashley and Marisha are genuises with the way they are roleplaying these two characters.

Real quick. Legend of Vox Machina was slated for two seasons AS SOON as Amazon picked it up. Critters kickstarted the 1st season and Amazon paid for the 2nd. There was no waiting to see if season 1 did well before green lighting season 2. Season 3 of TLOVM is the continuation of S2 since there is SO much going on in the Chroma-Conclave arc. So I think as they worked on season 1 they were well into season 2/3 stuff and were able to get an additional season out of the Chroma-conclave stuff before they moved onto the other arcs from campaign 1.

I call it now Shazam! Gets sucked into the multiverse and enters a new Earth where he is the only Shazam and his friends don't exist. He pretty much enters the James Gunn universe since they are keeping him for a long time.

The only one I can think of was when a certain someone has to pay their debt; and then they come back as a different character for one of the one shots.

As soon as I saw the D&D trailer, my only question was "How do I get a fat dragon?" It's the cutest, pudgiest thing ever and I need one.

I cant wait till i get to see them rescue their friends, get help from Shakasta, and hear Nott say: "Case Closed" that arc with molly and the BBEG was so good. its crazy how matt took basically a maternity leave and spun an amazing story in their absence. not to mention the gentleman, pumat, or "The ruby of the Sea", Orly?! like common!! Or when Fjord falls from the crowsnest when their ambushed on the ocean in the middle of the night? that sequence was so crazy cool but heartbreaking. god damnit i cant wait HENRY CRABGRASS!!!

I'm with Jay, I love Vox Machina but I am so attached to the Mighty Nein. I literally screamed slightly and welled up with tears at the announcement. I can not wait to see all of them animated, especially Caleb.

Damn Jay, did you forget that Travis watches your videos, do you think it’s a coincidence that the week after you announce if theirs a Mighty Nein series you’re going to cosplay Jester, that they suddenly announce the Mighty Nein is coming to Prime. Nah baby, it’s all about the Jayster.

I feel like part of the reason the first Shazam was such a surprise hit with people, even if it didn't necessarily make a tonne of money, was because it was a much more personal film for it's characters. The main bad guy was just pissed off at his dad for being treated unfairly and Billy was discovering his mother abandoned him but he had a new family. The sequel looks much more like every other comic book movie even if it's heart is still there with the characters the challenge they face is now a world ending event. Maybe that's what the larger cinema going audience wanted so they're pivoting a little to reach a bigger crowd. I just hope that the thing that made the first movie sucha breath of fresh air isn't lost among the spectacle.

I agree with Adam. I feel like they showed us most of the movie in that Shazam trailer. I’m still super excited for it though! Also Jay, apparently they tried to get The Rock to cameo as Black Adam in the first Shazam but he said no because I guess he is “too good” for that lol!

I always find myself saying “yeah, whatever” to every Scream movie after the first one and then I always end up enjoying them to some extent.

I feel like we now have the best sound bite ever with " Drown a b*tch " . Absolutely howling

I was JUST about to say Adam, History of the World Part 2 reminded me a lot of Drunk History. Which I love but very different from the usual “movie” look. I’m excited for it 💕

I started with the Vox Machina cartoon, immediately started Campaign 1 bc I loved the characters so much, and now I'm 101 episodes into the Mighty Nein. While I'm excited for it, I've gotta say I'm still way too attached to Vox Machina. As much as I love Jester, Percy owns my entire soul.

I look at it like the final fantasy franchise. Most people's favorite is the first one you play but you can still respect and enjoy the rest. Some people are way too defensive of their favorite to the point that it gets in the way of enjoying the others, but it is OK to have a favorite. Just like the CR campaigns. This analogy works especially well because the CR cast is either big fans or actually IN FF games

Shazam 2 trailer definitely looks pretty fun. I do think there's a bit too much shown in the trailer however. One thing in particular, which has been happening more and more lately, is a shot of Mary Marvel having her powers drained in mid-air and falling to the ground and it cuts away (which is good, fine, tension built into the danger of that shot) and then a shot or two later we see her being caught mid-air (I presume by Billy but I'm not going to freeze-frame it) so now when we see it we know she's not in danger because we've already seen her getting caught. Nando of Nando V Movies recently complained about this phenomenon with some of the shots in the Ant Man : Quantumania trailer and I have to agree. The overall editing quality of trailers, especially blockbusters, seems to have waned in the last 2 or 3 years

History of the world was my introduction into sketch comedy and me and my siblings would sneak and watch it

I am in the same boat as jay for sure. I started CR when covid hit and i left my job due to them not taking my health and safety serious enough. Between job searching i needed to take my mind off life. Randomly a video from GinnyD came across my youtube feed. I have no clue why. Never heard of CR before. But like an angel sent from the Everlight herself... GinnyD showed up on my feed and explained how starting from C2 might be a good idea if all the content looked like too much. At this point CR was in their covid hiatus due the LA lockdown. So I started watching 2 episodes per day. At 4 hours per, 8 hours for 2, it filled the space I would have been working. And it got me through a rough time. I even say it was enjoyable at times jist hunkered down in my home watching CR all day. Like Jay said, the Mighty Nein became my buddies in a way Vox Machina and even Bells Hells arent able to do. Im so excited for this. Andbim glad they arent waiting for hype to die down. Strike while the iron is hot. Get out there and start throwing seasons at us. Its a gold mine of content. There is no reason not to turn it all into shows.

fun fact: there's a Spanish duo who focuses on doing AMVs about mythology and gods, and in one of their videos released last year, there's a cameo reference to the Mighty Nein. little to no people outside of the English-speaking world knows about D&D channels, much less the Mighty Nein specifically, but their videos are huge in the Spanish-speaking side of youtube.... I'd love to see the face of many of these people when they see the reference in retrospect, knowing that their video was release MONTHS before the MN series was even drafted.

To me that is literally the most genuine a teaser can get. It's supposed to tease. A 20 second flash of stuff from the show is just a micro trailer. A teaser shouldn't even need shots from the show.

The mel Brooks movie I was actually hoping for was "SpaceBalls 3 the search for SpaceBalls 2"

For the Mighty Nein rating, I was so expecting you to say "Nine out of Nine Neins" or something. But yes. 25/25 is perfection.

Before covid I think the creators said they had 7 seasons planned out. I think this was maybe for promotion around season 2 or three.
