I'm a guitarist with two decades of experience and this thing is still untouchable. Simply, not of this world.
This guitar solo is the absolutely highest level of playing. It's the perfect marriage of high technique, soul, creativity and executional dynamics. Stunning.

From soul to fingers, flawlessly. This song is perfect. Shawn was from an outer dimension.
First heard this song when I was in High School. My local video store had a copy of an instructional VHS with a bunch of different guitarists. One of them was Shawn playing this track live at Musicians Institute. I'm 43 years old now and this tune still hits just as hard as it did when I was a kid. Nobody like Shawn.
This version has Sean Rickman playing. One of the most underrated albums ever.

Shawn ? One of the greatest guitarists of all time. virtuoso, sensitive in his guitar playing. I listen to him, and one gun sinks. The angels are happy to have you.
I'm a guitarist....and that is one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard. He has the chops, obviously, but his note choice and phrasing are incredible. He always ends his phrases on the correct notes which fit the melody, which is the touch of a master...
That snare is amazing
Shawn has the hands down most melodic and musical shred albums ever made imo
Purity of soulfulness, flawless and genius musician he was.

I have listened to this album in 2005. It is so beautiful and powerful at the same time. But it always make me feel a little sad. I dont know why, but I love this album so much.
To the Parents of Shawn Lane, Thank you. Your son brings me pleasure and pain. It's a pleasure to play his music on my guitar. It's a pain to get it to sound like I think he would want.

Shawn Lane ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The most underrated guitar player and song. Absolutely sublime on every level.
Thanks a lot for the upload, I'm sure Shawn would be proud to see fans and enthusiats keep his great legacy alive and intact. I can easily say that's my favorite version of this wonderful song, as I like the production just a little bit better on this alternate version. Can't get enough of this one, really. Anyway, "Powers of Ten" definitely is an overlooked masterpiece of a record, from one of the best players to appear in the 90's (in a decade where amazing players like Petrucci, Vai, Gilbert & co. absolutely shone bright, you can say competition was very fierce in that department back then !). That's worth something... R.I.P. Mr. Shawn Lane, your incredible skills and artistry are sorely missed...

First time I heard this, Guthrie Govan, transcrbed it in an English Guitar Magazine. I listened to it an thought how in the heck can someone transcribe this? I went out bought 3 or 4 Shawn Lane CD's. Wow what a guitarist, I think many new fusion players, have been inspired, and copy Shawn. I wish more people heard his fantastic playing, but he was just too good, advanced for simple pentatonic blues kinda players.

Let's not forget Shawn loved him some good pentatonic blues. You should both imagine if Shawn's own attitude would have aligned with yours, and really wonder if his relative obscurity is because of these blues players you've fabricated. In years and countless videos, I've never seen the dismissive stance that you think exists from other players. I'm a simple pentatonic blues kind of player and find Shawn utterly magical.

That's what I love about Shawn, he understood that melody is king and knew when to let it rip and when to let it mellow. The more I listen to Shawn's vast array of recorded mastery, the more I realize just how truly gifted he was. He wasn't just a great player he was great at all things music. He had it all in spades!
Aside from Jimi Hendrix who pretty much invented electric guitar as we know it today, I've no doubts Shawn was the greatest guitar player in history.
