Seu nome real é Rose Shavonne Iovio. Ela nasceu em Ontario, Canadá. Tudo começou quando conheceu o produtor musical Massimo “Mo” Rossati, que estava procurando uma cantora para fazer sua primeira gravação Freestyle. Na época ele estava ouvindo Cover Girls, Nocera, Pam Russo entre outras e ficou impressionado com sua voz em tom alto, quase infantil, semelhantes a essas cantoras.
Em 1989, Shavonne lançou seu primeiro single, que no início iria se chamar “Tell Me What You See”, mas um dos chefões da Vista Sounds, Jefrey Collins sugeriu que “So, Tell Me, Tell Me” seria melhor. Produzido por Massimo “Mo” Rossati e lançado pela M-Pire Recods, essa música se tornou um clássico do Freestyle, principalmente aqui no Brasil, onde tocou exaustivamente nos bailes e rádios especializadas. Em 1994, “So, Tell Me, Tell Me” foi re-lançada através de um EP chamado “Freestyle Heaven” junto com outros cantores canadenses como Leo, Vita e Kim Esty produzidos por Massimo “Mo” Rossati e lançado pela Sacred Records.
