If I shaved like this guy I'd end up with a face covered in blood. I'm still learning though, until I got a safety razor I couldn't do a wet shave with a multiblade as I got instant razor burn and allot of irritation and ingrowing hairs. I'm still finding what works best and for me that is to shave with the grain and only do one pass, when I attempt to shave against the grain (no matter what I do) pretty much every one of my hair follicles bleed, it's still miles smoother then my trimmer anyway so I'm happy. I got the new butterfly razor from Wilkinson's sword and I tried personna blades and I actually prefer personna over the included Wilkinson's sword blades. I think that's because they seem a bit less aggressive, I actually plucked up the courage to do a full body shave and was actually quite surprised how fast it was over my Gillette Fusion and I actually managed to get fewer nicks over the fusion (which mostly happens on my knee caps), the only one I did get was my own fault as I slipped slightly doing one of my feet. For me it was more of a training exercise but at the end I couldn't believe just how much control you actually get with a double edge razor compared to a cartridge razor.

Well, I saw this video and thought, "why not, it's not an expensive test". I received my amazon package yesterday and today I used my new Wilkenson Sword Classic with one of the supplied Wilkenson sword blades and one of my favorite soaps and brushes. Surprisingly good shave, very lightweight, but a comfortable and close shave. I'm a two-pass kind of guy and that was more than enough. This razor is great for anyone beginning or even someone who has been wet shaving for a while. I'm planning on getting another for a travel shave kit. Heck for the price, I might give a few as Christmas presents.

British owned Wilkinson Swod Razor and Blades were the preferred razors and blades in India till the mid 1990s when Gillette entered the market as India liberalised economically. My father regularly used it before shifting to Catridge razors somewhere in the late 1990s. These things seem to be unavailable nowadays.

My first safety razor shave was with this Wilkinson plastic thing. Of course i watched 5 quarters of 7 youtube shaving videos before, so i only got 2 days of razor burn and a handful of cuts with my first shave. It could only get better at this point. ;) (happy now with my revamped 1967 Gillette Slim Adjustable from Razor Emporium and Astra Green / Feather blades ;-))

I was surprised by how good the Wilkinson Safety Razor performed. I don't have very much to shave though, so that's the difference. In my opinion, it's a very mild safety razor that is, in my opinion, beginner friendly. After this, I'd recommend people progress to a different safety razor like a Merkur or Viking

I’ve had a beard since 2014. Finally decided to shave it off this month. Have a few shaves, I told my aunt about maybe getting a safety razor. She went home and the next day came back with some old safety razors that belonged to my great-grandpa. There was three razors and one of them was a 1960 Gillette Fatboy!! I was so excited because I knew what it was from your videos! Can’t wait to start shaving with it but I don’t know if it is a good one to start off with? What’s your opinion?

I've been wet shaving with cartridge razors for close to a decade now, tried numerous different ones from Dorco, King of Shaves, Wilkinson sword and Gillette, my favourites have been the Gillette Mach 3 turbo and fusion proglide flexball. I'd always heard people say how good DE razors are and always been afraid to try one incase I cut my face to shreds but today I got myself the same type of DE that your using in this video just to see what a DE is like, and after my first use I'm pretty impressed, like you, I got a bit of razor burn on my neck area but didn't cut myself any more than normal which is good. I think once I've done it a few times and I'm used to angling the handle 30 degrees, the shave will be even better still, though it's very good even on my first attempt. I think I'd try Gillette DE blades in it once I run out of the supplied ones. All in all my first impression is good 👍

Three ways of using shaving cream in a tube: (1) Wet face using hot water------Leave face wet------Put a fingertip amount of cream in palm of hand------Rub hands together and then on face------Lather with brush of choice. (1a) Apply lather to face------Do not use brush. Just shave. (2) Place fingertip amount of cream into a bowl or mug-------Lather up for 15 seconds-------Apply brush to face. (3) Apply fingertip amount of cream to wet brush------Face lather.

What ever you have is contagious Sinatra I bought the ws classic yesterday in my local pharmacy yesterday. Took the blade out of my parker's de and used it in the classic fourth shave for the blade and the classic very safe to incert the blade in not only is it fool proof its actually me proof. I'd very much with your assessment of it but I loved the way the blade felt as it shaved me, would be a great razor to transition onto a shavette razor or as a travelrazor. I just done one pass as I was rushing and it done a great job and like yourself a little bit of razor burn on the bottom of my neck but only lasted about 30 seconds. No preshave no after shave just a very good quick shave with what I'd call a very good razor only thing I'd think about it as you said it feels like a disposable razor and the screw at the top doesn't look too strong so it could break quite easily.

I've started shaving with a Wilkinson Sword Classic Premium and so far it's been a great starting blade. What makes it 'premium' is that unlike the WS Classic featured, it uses an all-metal construction and uses a butterfly/twisting mechanism. Might try it with some Feather or Personna blades at some point.

This razor is, for me, near top, having been shaving, since over fifty years and continue to shave with a variety including the new Wilkinson Sword TTO, Schick injector, Feather AS-D2, Rockwell 6's, Merkurs, and a list of Gillettes; I name for context to my comparison. The Wilkinson you nicely demonstrate is certainly mild (hence to be either disliked or liked). It is amongst the most well-balanced (43g - and reasonably priced) and designed. In no other razor have I seen (although there must be) such thoughtful complete knurled enclosure of the blade tabs overhang and blade edge ends. Thank you again for your demonstrations.

I wanted to save some money from buying cartridge razor blades and I looked on Amazon at the safety razors and I didn't want to spend $40.00 on a razor to give wet shaving a try. Then I ran across this video and found it on Amazon with a pack of five blades for $8.98. Bought Proraso After Shave, Proraso Shaving Soap and Miusco Badger Hair Shaving Brush and Shaving Stand Set. So for $53.00 I was ready to go. I just order 100 Astra Platinum blades for $9.30 since the razor only comes with five blades. So far so good. So unless this razor breaks I don't see any reason to buy another. Don't want to get all anal about shaving, and buy bunch of razors, soaps, brushes, etc, since that would defeat the original purpose of saving money.

$8. It's $3 in my country. I started with this one and upgraded a month later. I didn't like it because the plastic became sticky and I cut myself. The real issue were the blades. They were no good.

Turn the box upsidedown to slide the blade out, ffs. :) And yeah, those blades tend to be pretty rough sometimes. Razor is really mild, to the point that you have to overbuff when doing the last pass. Put those Feathers in it or some Polsilvers, and you are good to go.

I've just started with the plastic Wilkinson Sword classic - £4.50 in boots. Despite getting the angle right and letting the blade do the work with the gentlest of pressure it's is causing a few small knicks on my jawline and neck. I feel like the Wilkinson Sword blade isn't great. Do you think that a better blade like a perma-sharp in this cheap razor would offer less tugging and Knicks? Or do i just need to shell out £26 for a DE89 or merkur 34c ?

Try out the Merkur. The quality of its construction will help give you a better shave. Hopefully less nicks!

Cool. I have the dollar old deign, black plastic Gillette 1 with 5 free blades:-) (It's the easiest to load though but not so stable, lol) That's my DE that I don't use (using the new battery operated Gillete 5 blade Fusion which isn't that much better than a disposable 2 blade). I'm planning to upgrade to the metal, branded DEs or a branded straight razor (not sure if that's going to be more expensive coz' of the many tools to sharpen it):-) God bless, Proverbs 31

God I purchased one of these whilst on holiday as I forgot my DE razor, whoops. It tore my face to shreds, badly made as the molding seams were still on the cutting edge and as for the blades utterly awful I threw the lot away. I now have two good razors one in my away bag and one at home.
