    Thanks for sharing your tips. I'm trying to improve my mower blade sharpening skills and have been watching videos and reading quite a bit about it. From what I've read so far it seems like a bad idea to have a razor sharp edge. Apparently this creates a weak edge that is prone to chips and dings, and it will not stay sharp for long. I've actually read that it's better to have a flat cutting edge of about 1/64". John Deere even recommends this in one of their mower manuals. So is it really worth all the effort to raise a burr and then remove it like you did in this video? Any thoughts on that? Thanks again.

    Great question. I wish you got a response. My understanding is the same about not wanting razor sharp. Options are to flatten the edge slightly with a hand file to give it some strength back or leave it sharp and you will get some chips easier but overall should eventually be the same sharpness as a dulled edge anyway.
