Alright I'm all in, lol ordered my cutt throats, KME, and my DMT stones. I suffered last year trying to get my VPA 3blade sharp and it wasn't great but wasn't bad. Then one bent on my buck. Really had to rethink my broadhead.

I struggled with 3 blades until I found the stay sharp guide.

Mirror polish has less surface area to collect water and oxidize.

Have you tested a toothier edge vrs a mirror polish? I like to leave some bite on my knives, a mirror edge tends to slide more grab when cutting. I sharpen to 220 then strop the burr just till in comes off. Still hair popping sharp but has some bite to it.

You stop at 220 grit?

Question: do you find if you grind through that laminate (where the body of the blade is folded and brazed or welded) that it weakens the structural integrity of the head at all?

Not at all, there is no way to sharpen the edge full length without doing so. I have often wondered the same thing but never had a fail on the weld line. It’s usually the tip

I am putting that video together now. For knife sharpening I love the Edge Pro. For Broadheads I prefer the KME and the DMT Dia Sharp Stones.

Are you drawing the broadhead across the stone instead of pushing the cutting edge?

Hi Cody, I like the approach you are taking to learn and show the process. I have a few questions. #1 how sharp, is sharp? You showed you can cut hair with a dull broadhead, it even had a bur. #2 how Long does it take you to sharpen a dozen broadheads? looks like it could take hours. Thanks

I like to get heads face shaving sharp. A good set of shapton ceramic glass stones really make sharpening fast as compared to lower cost stones.

Thanks for getting back to me Cody. I still have the Same question, how sharp, is sharp? I’m follicle challenged, therefore I shave my head on a regular basis. A brand new Gillette mock five starts out buttery smooth, can’t even tell it’s cutting the hair, after every shave it gets less and less smooth, however, it still shaves hair, still very sharp, just not buttery smooth sharp. So, to change my question, what criteria or measurement do you use, or is it just a random “ it feels sharp “ Thanks, in my quest to be more lethal. David

They are 3x8.

I was under the impression that most traditional bowhanna's. Kill deer at 15 yd average 20 at the most.I can't understand the difference.It would make at those distances in speed

Can you detail exactly which stones/paper you use? I want to order everything needed but am not sure on which grits, etc. to get. Detailed specs would be ideal. Thanks!

I put links in the description to the DMT stones. I like 120 Micron, Course, Medium and Fine. I like 3m sharpening paper 1k, 3k, and 5k,. I also use a strop.

back off that black collar on the back of the jig until it is eliminates that slop and you won't have to hold the head back against the jig body
