Its an honor and a pleasure to be able to share. Next weeks video Im gonna be at a Sharpening convention and will share some deep thoughts here with you guys.

At 12:10 you talk about the straightener. I purchased one and it does a great job. The first time I used it was at a butcher shop. They had a number of knives with slightly bent tips. They were amazed that I brought all the knives back to them with sharpened and with straight tips, thanks to the use of this tool. Thank you!

Great video, what advantage have you found with swapping out the stock motor compared to the DC motor?

Reminds me of my first holster shop. It was in a tool shed behind our house and I had about as much room as you do in that van but I made it work.

Larger van and being able to stand up would be nice. Over here parking is TIGHT and roads tend to be small in places so its worth the squeeze to be able to drive easy.

Hey could u do a an overview on that little 1x30 your running the strop on? I’ve been eyeing one of those for some time but not sure if it’s worth it.

Super cool video! I'm a part time knifemaker that does a couple craft fairs each year. Inspiring to see your back of van workshop / vending set up. Speedy good service too. I recently got a Rikon VS, still learning how to sharpen on it. I'm used to the Lansky guided stones.. they eat up a lot of my time though. :P

Ah I'm so psyched to get that Ali 1x30 now that I can see you using it Cliff. You said at 4:26 "Edge leading with the leather belt will leave them with a toothy edge" - did you mean edge trailing (versus edge trailing on a higher speed leather wheel)?

For clarity leather stropping MUST be edge trailing to avoid damage & severe injury. Im referring to going edge leading with the abrasive belts. At one point I buff the edge to show how easy it is to make it "polished" but not toothy anymore.

Ive got a secret drawer 2nd from the bottom filled with every imaginable stone and spyderco crock stick etc in all shapes n sizes. Whetstones are bottom drawer. Naniwa and shapton glass...gathering dust.

I notice that you usually do more passes on the right side. Is this done on purpose? Is this done for right handed use? Love,love,love these videos!

People have commented on this before and honestly I dont notice. Im guessing its on the first step. I may do an extra swipe but it could be light pressure too and not critical. I try to keep my bevels even. ;)

Its a great tool. I know its weird because now Im selling stuff. But the stuff Ive got that I do offer is the very best Ive found and personally use so its just a part of my progression too I guess. :)

@@CurryCustomCutlery Best to buy from someone actually uses the tool then a vendor who doesn't even know what it is for. All purchases (and advice) from you have been 100% spot-on.

On 1st belt used I noticed you cover tip front 1/3 a bit more. Is this because as knife user we tend to use that area more? Just like so many others love you videos.

I try not to over grind down by the bolster and "waller" that area out. Also I am reshaping and making the tip point again is what you are probably seeing. Thx for comments Mark ;)

A couple questions. What belt progression are you working through? You seem to only need to do a couple passes on the course to bring up a burr. I often need several minutes to set the bevel. How do you achieve it so quickly? Also, do you find only 1-2 passes on your fine belt refines the edge enough to have a long lasting apex? What is the edge retention like on your finished product? Thanks!

First step is cubitron p120 it for me is perfect level to remove damage and reset the angle. Couple passes at 600 grit trizact a30 is enough to wipe any signs of the p120. Strop to desired toothiness level

What is the difference between the machine you use first on on right and the machine on the left. I this a different belt, different angle or possibly both . i am looking to hone my still for a while any maybe make some retirement money doing this . Just learning. I have a tormek t8 and now this HF 1 x30. Invested $1000 for a hobby that may make money one day. At least I enjoy the work..

All my machines I choose to use or build are 1x30. I do that just to keep it more simple. Each of the 3 steps is the same as outline in other videos regardless of the differnt look to the machine P120, A30, Stroppin step

Just came across your video. Do you make the knives you sell or do you buy them somewhere else? Looks like it would be a good side hustle at my local farmers market

One of the keys to being able to sharpen quickly is clear indication that the apex has been reached and being able to stop to avoid removing excess material. Lighting is critical kzread.info/dash/bejne/dYJozNGuh5Soeso.html

Each market is different. Over here it varies from $15-50 per day. If you figure Im sharpening somewhere close to 100 items a day it dont really matter. ;)

What is the sharpener that you fiinish with? It looks like maybe a leather 2" belt, but what machine is that? Thanks!

Hey Cliff, I noticed your 1x30 at end of your van you're using for finishing. I've been looking at that model and another that has both the vertical and horizontal work area. How are you liking that setup and will it support a leather stroping belt? Thank you sir.

Its a smooth running tool, at least mine was. At the end of the day they are all just a motor and a couple wheels turning a belt. You can buy a machine or upgrade, they all work. Thats a good one out of box, just a bit more pricey. Ill do a video on it.

Cliff I’m a 72 year old goat trying to get this belt sharpening down. I’m having problems with the smaller knives. I noticed you have what looks like a new angle guide on the first machine. Can you give us a breakdown on how it’s made? Any help appreciated. Thanks Ed.
