End of the clip looks as though it's in the process of being cleaned and restored as there is minimal surface rust in comparison to at the start of the clip... I'm sure that the rust was all removed with the wire wheel after sharpening and the blade was coated in a food safe oil to prevent oxidation

@@gibblets17 So is the concern that when she uses it the raw meat is gonna get dirty with ... meat juices??!? The thing that makes it safe to eat isn't that it didn't touch anything dirty, its that organisms like bacteria can't survive us cooking the meat. That is why cross contamination is not a concern prior to cooking, only after. It is also why my dad doesn't care how "clean" his hunting knife is even though we plan to eat the meat he is cutting with it. It will get cooked to the point any organism that could harm us is dead.

Looks just like the paper slicer that was at a stationary store that used to be near me. I would help remove the blade and send it off for sharpening when it wouldn't cut card stock cleanly. Even when it was too dull to cleanly cut paper, it would slice you ìf you barely touched it.

People need to realise that it can get rusty very quickly with cleaners so if you clean the rest off and use it when you clean it it it will rust overnight and require cleaning again

As someone who used to work on those for a living you never sharpen those with a belt sander. Only a linear blade mill does it right. You will round off the edges or give the blade a slight curve and cause a catastrophic failure that can seriously hurt people.
