End of the clip looks as though it's in the process of being cleaned and restored as there is minimal surface rust in comparison to at the start of the clip... I'm sure that the rust was all removed with the wire wheel after sharpening and the blade was coated in a food safe oil to prevent oxidation

Chill all that needs is a drill with a wire brush atttaxhment to hit the rust with then oil that’s it .. rust isn’t dangerous it’s not the same as some rust nail in a field rust is just oxidized steel it really is safe it doesn’t make metal more dangerous it’s where the metal is found that makes it’s dangerous please learn things and eveyone else who liked this.

The thing that makes it safe to eat isn't that it didn't touch anything dirty, its that organisms like bacteria can't survive us cooking the meat. That is why cross contamination is not a concern prior to cooking, only after. It is also why my dad doesn't care how "clean" his hunting knife is even though we plan to eat the meat he is cutting with it. It will get cooked to the point any organism that could harm us is dead.

We use similar knives at the mill I work at for shaving down fence posts and fence rails, each blade is super sharp expensive custom made knife blades and they’re twice as thick at that we send them Through pieces of wood at hundreds of psi per second

little fun fact about rust, rust can only give you tetanus if its being exposed to soil as thats where the bacteria lives. so having a little rust isnt dangerous on household items

Yall would have a heart attack if you heard how many 'chances' places get with a health inspector. And what is ACTUALLY the problem areas of most kitchens. The knives get washed, but when did they rotate stock, and did they do FIFO? How clean are the line coolers? Is the 18 year old that is preparing your 150 buck tomahawk steak even sober right now?

Don’t let the rust bother you. It’s been sitting because it’s dull while she used the other sharp one. It’ll will be cleaned up before use. It won’t rust on a daily use basis and cleaning. Only if it sits without use.

I may be wrong, however if the blade was dull wouldn’t it likely have been put away rather than in use? I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t continue using it with the rust it has but then again everybody is just speculating

Nahh, a rusty knife can potentially give you tetanus if it is contaminated with the bacteria *Clostridium tetani*. This bacteria is commonly found in soil, dust, and animal feces. If the knife has come into contact with these and you get cut by it, u get it

I worked in a paper mill many years ago. And we had a guillotine for cutting rejected paper rolls in half so they could be recycled in the hydropulper , the guillotine had a blade exactly like that one only much longer and wider . Was operated by hydraulic cylinders under many tons of pressure. Interesting
