If you want to clean the first smith stone, take some nail polish remover and a paper towel to remove some of the buildup

you know what i just found out? a piece of glass works really well for sharpening knives. i heard glass is good for finishing a knife edge and just started rubbing my knife on glass and it makes it really sharp.

You ever tried running your knife on a leather belt backwards at the end I guess kind of just the opposite motion of using a stone it gets it a razor sharp hair shaving finish

It would bring back a lot of memories of my brother (an eagle scout) and my late dad (former cubmaster and scoutmaster) and all the ceremonies I attended during my childhood where all the scouts got each of their badges. I also attended all boy scout pot lucks and pinewood derbies and my dad would help all of us kids build derby cars in his basement wood shop. When I was 13, my dad took me on a boy scout camping and white water rafting trip. I was the only girl and it was one of my best memories as I knew most of the scouts and chaperones from all their years of scouting. I was a girl scout cadette, but it just didn't compare to my boy scout memories. My dad and brother did the Philmont hikes and the national jamboree. Please go through each patch with a personal recollection. It would make my day!

As someone who knows a little about knife sharpening it appears that you are in favor of the tip of the knife on the coarse stone you can see it in how the oil moves not saying its wrong but i wonder if your doing it on purpose... All though good vid keep up the amazing work. (Ps your stone really drinks that honing oil lol)

TheBerch I have the same model, it can't be that old. It's a Steel Warrior knife. Well, that's the brand at least. It's a pretty modern knife.

@@collecter3456 It's actually a small Texas Toothpick knife made by Case. Case is basically the OG knife brand. The Zippo of knives. Steel Warrior I believe is made by Frost Cutlery, which make tons and tons of different designs, some of which are inspired by old style classics like Case. He's owned this knife for at least 7 years, but quite possibly a good while longer than that.

Your hand was cramping because you applied way to much pressure. Although I can understand you doing that for the purpose of the video. If that is the case then a disclaimer would have been nice. Most professional chef's don't even know the difference between honing and sharpening these days... so much misinformation is out there its not even funny. But thank you for this video nonetheless!
