This is amazing! i used this on the adjusmet layers and it worked out really cool! it is better if you do it this way instead of puting it directly to the clip, just saying... thanks a lot!

When I use this effect . Even after rendering the clip , is MURDER foe exporting , slows down my exporting time into the hours , kid you not , without it I export a clip in 3 minutes , with this effect applied , takes many hours , is just crazy . Any suggestions to solve this issue . I cannot use it .

Thanks for this. Simple but after I add the effect is it normal for footage to not play and needs to be rendered? I have a very powerful PC build and thought it would be able to handle it. Thanks

It does take some juice from your GPU. I have a decent PC and it does that same to me 😊

  • @desertbornproductions

@@NicoloMaserati When you say decent I have a AMD Ryzen 9 3900x 12 Core, 64GB RAM and a Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 2080 SUPER. Shouldn't that be more than enough to handle it? I also have the same issues when I add certain effects and transitions. I built the PC to handle all this stuff effortlessly but not sure if I underestimated my specs. It handles 4k footage well without proxies but as soon as I added the unsharpen mask it wouldn't play at all. Would creating proxies help in this situation if I am adding the unsharpen mask? Thanks for any advice and pointers it's very much appreciated.

@@desertbornproductions Yeah, we have the same GPU. I wish I had that Ryzen 9 though lol But the unsharp mask just takes a long time to process, it's going through a ton of pixels for every frame. It's definitely unfortunate but it does look good in the end!

@@NicoloMaserati Yeah so it's the very last thing you do just before export. Color correction and sound first then sharpen right at the end. Thanks for clearing that all up.

There's a red bar above my footage in the timeline after doing this, similar to when I slow down footage and select "optical flow", yet I can't render selection under sequence (it's greyed out). Should I be concerned about this?

Have you tried create in and out points and then hitting enter and see what happens? If that doesn’t work, I’d say try saving and restarting premiere

@@NicoloMaserati I'm a new user to PP, and am not sure what you mean by in and out points. But saving and restarting appears to have fixed something as render is now working. Thanks.

Stupid question but it seems like this is the best way to sharpen videos. If I want the best sharpening process. I'll have to do this on every clip which is time consuming. Any tips in speeding this process up? I used to just use the sharpen under "adjustments" but I don't crank it up so I don't get much noise and for what I do, I guess it works but I'm always looking for better faster ways.

try using an adjustment layer above everything and put the effect on that layer.I use it like that and it works fine.In the ned review your clip and where you feel u need to tweak the effect just cut that part from your adjustment layer and tweak the effect just there, not affecting the entire sequence. Hope it helps. Cheers!

Hey Rob, super sorry about that. I sometimes like to chat a little before I get into the main part of the video. The good news is that I try to put time markers on videos I upload so if someone wants to skip the intro, they can just click on the time marker to go where they want to go in the video.
