Let me tell you that this song transcends frontiers

In 2005 I had just split with my long-time partner & my heart was broken. I heard that this new R&B band was playing Lee's Palace, a small club in Toronto, and I wanted to go but who wants to go to a concert alone. I hemmed and hawed for a week, then decided that maybe I better get used to enjoying life on my own. I'm so glad I went - what I saw turned me right around. Love, power, joy and about the best live act I ever saw. Thank you so much Sharon, Gabe, Neal and all the Daptone family for what you gave me.

I express my deepest loss for for the most greatest voices I've ever heard.

She was a force of nature. I was so fortunate to see her perform many times. Gone too soon. We miss you Sharon Jones!

Exactly: *All of us.* No matter what happens or who we are, where we’re from, we gotta keep that hope, that dream alive. We’ve been historically and in the present aspiring “….to form a more perfect union.” On the eve of the midterm elections let’s remember this land does belongs to us. Everyday all over this planet people are literally dying to get to the US. Criticize as much as ya want but try trading places with them, try living their lives.

Lawd knows, that hard workin woman deserves a rest.

So saddened by her loss today. 2016 has been a horrible year for the passing of great artists we have lost this year. I saw Sharon and the Dap Kings a year ago last summer with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and the show was fantastic. RIP Sharon. You will be missed.

I saw that show too (in Paso Robles) CA...Tedeschi/Trucks band were good, but Sharon Jones was AMAZING. So sad she is gone.

I'm watching this in 2020 on Election Day here in the states. So anxious. Thank God for this! RIP, Goddess!

Woody didn't compose House of the rising sun. He recorded it. The earliest recording is 1933, but evidence dates it back to the late 1800's.

Same here that's how I heard it.

First heard this track at the end of the ‘Knock Down the House’ Netflix documentary and instantly bought the album on record, cracking album! Such a shame I only discovered her after she’d passed away, her energy live must have been infectious to say the least!
