In 2005 I had just split with my long-time partner & my heart was broken. I heard that this new R&B band was playing Lee's Palace, a small club in Toronto, and I wanted to go but who wants to go to a concert alone. I hemmed and hawed for a week, then decided that maybe I better get used to enjoying life on my own. I'm so glad I went - what I saw turned me right around. Love, power, joy and about the best live act I ever saw. Thank you so much Sharon, Gabe, Neal and all the Daptone family for what you gave me.

Exactly: *All of us.* No matter what happens or who we are, where we’re from, we gotta keep that hope, that dream alive. We’ve been historically and in the present aspiring “….to form a more perfect union.” On the eve of the midterm elections let’s remember this land does belongs to us. Everyday all over this planet people are literally dying to get to the US. Criticize as much as ya want but try trading places with them, try living their lives.

R.I.P. SHARON JONES
Love it!
Where was I all your life, Sharon Jones. What I missed. Rest in peace and rise in glory
I think Megan Thomas below put it best - "Rest in power." She commanded every stage upon which she performed.

Sending love and support to Miss Jones in her battle with cancer. Sing on!
