Shark vs. Albatross: Who Wins the Race? | Nature is Brutal

↠ Check out our Nature is Brutal series: • Nature is Brutal
Lalo, in the north-western Hawaiian islands, is where almost all the world’s black-footed albatross hatch. But up to 10% of young birds will be lost to hungry island visitors: tiger sharks. In June and July, when young birds practice flying, tiger sharks are lured to these tropical waters by the promise of food. They eat other residents, like green turtles and Hawaiian monk seals, but albatross are a favorite. For each fledgling that takes off, it’s a flight for survival …

You ought to turn up the volume on the music - I could hear the narration all the time. Otherwise, good and interesting content.

Wait, stop for a drink break! Can albatrosses drink salt water then? Other sea birds?

Many seabirds can actually drink seawater! To get rid of the excess salt they ingest while drinking, they have well-developed salt glands
