You Sir are a God send! It only took me about 6 hours to do what you did in less than 30 minutes, but I did it! LOL. I took a two-hour break to stop and cook some yummy food and relax a bit after taking it apart. Then I came back and put it back together 3 or 4 times due to my mistakes with the spring, but I DID IT! Take that Shark! I pray you are blessed! This video was amazing! By the way, I'm a 50-year-old woman with NO mechanical skills. I just prayed a lot, hit pause and rewind a lot and I'm VERY hard-headed, so I wasn't giving up. LOL. I can do it, anyone can! Thanks again. God bless you!

There is NO way I could've gotten the obstruction out without your video. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! it took a lot of time, several Amazon orders (WHY the need for multiple sizes?!?) and frequent mental health breaks but it is back together and functioning. I appreciate you sharing this video!

Got a rock stuck in the power fin roller within 10 minutes of first use. The older models they gave fairly easy access to the rollers, this one is crazy hard to get into per your video. Grateful to have seen this video and so glad I found this out while I can still return it! Called Sharkninja and they say no access to the power fin on the LA502, they say I need to purchase the entire bottom of the vacuum for 79.99 plus tax and shipping so about $100. To me this is a shark design flaw and money grab from customers :( returning it in the morning!

Thanks for the video. Enlightening to see that on what a lot of vacuums what should be a simple maintenance task of removing an obstruction, on that Shark takes a skilled technician a hour of work and looks overly complicated. Also good to hear there are still places that value the post sale customer experience. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Pilsner! I think it would be difficult to make this nozzle much more complicated... but, then again, I don't think they were ever planning on it being repaired. Just buy a new nozzle, right?! Hahaha. I appreciate the kind words.

I never would have found those two top screws without your help. Thank you so much. I have a family member convinced this is a good vacuum. It is such crap, but I've got to fix it because if I don't she's going to go buy another #$^%'ing $300 vacuum. I had a $40 no-name last me ten years. It was so unremarkable that I can't remember who even made it. I vaguely remember that it was blue, and that's about it. It didn't die! I put it out on the curb with a sign that said "works" on it and it was gone in an hour. Whoever took it probably still has it. Why did I do that? BECAUSE A CERTAIN SOMEBODY SAID THEY BOUGHT A "good one" AND THAT I DIDN'T NEED IT ANYMORE!" ::Angry mumbling noises as I go stomp off towards the garage::

Hi Matt, The labor rate charged is a reflection of many factors as you described. Such as, what kind of skills should a technician be required to have to repair a device such as this? Just like going to any professional for anything, vacuum repair or auto mechanic or doctor you are paying for that person's ability to do the work. With that being said, I expect a technician to be able to do a much better job of repairing a device than I could do myself, that is why I pay those people who do have the skills what they charge. Vacuums today for the most part are very complicated devices, not like years ago when they were much simpler. Fortunately, as I have stated in the past your customers are lucky that they have someone of your skill level to be able to repair these complicated devices. You demonstrate this skill level in all of your videos. Another well thought out and presented video for our enjoyment. Looking forward to many more in the future. I always try and learn something from your videos. John in Ohio

Thanks, John! I appreciate the perspective. I often run into complaints about price, but I think that is because people are still expecting me to repair things with duct tape and zip ties instead of professional repairs. I think it has just made me self-conscious about it. Thanks for the encouragement!

I was watching this video while trying to take apart the power head of my Shark Rocket Duo Clean Zero M you helped a lot, thank you. This is the first Shark product I have ever tried. I have literally only used this turd three times and now the head has started stopping and the red light is coming on. I'm having to delete the micro switch on the side of the power head because I sucked up an almond and it broke both of the front pins that hold down the top brush cover. I will have to drill holes in the front of the cover and use screws to retain the cover instead of the pins. I really regret buying a Shark machine and will advise anyone who will listen not to get one. I am also taking the spring out that locks the head into the upright position. When I pull the vacuum twords me, the damn thing pops into the locked position constantly. Soooo annoying! It is highly maneuverable but unlike the commercial, the power head doesn't fit under anything in my damn house. Shark equals disappointment. :(

Thank you so much for your video you definitely helped me out as I was trying to take it apart to clean it and you were so helpful telling me where those hidden screws were lol. But I chickened out about 2/3 the way through😂 You definitely know your stuff!!! Keep up the good work!! It stinks that shark makes it so difficult to get into the vacuum. All I wanted to do was clean the inside because it needs to be cleaned and it's sad that they make it so difficult. There was also hair around up in the wheel part of the front roller. I own 3 shark vacuums and generally rant and rave about them because it's truly a great vacuum especially if you have pets. But my roller started separating and the 2nd roller behind it got so frayed and I have no idea why as it's not used constantly. I love my shark vacuums but I'm not thrilled with the fact that I can't get in there to clean it and that it's not holding up as well as it should be. But thank you again very kindly for your wonderful video!!!

I got a new Shark Vertex on Black Friday for $249.00. For that price point I’m not to upset about potential repair issues as my warranty will cover it for 5 years. My grandmother has a shark and her power head died on the 4th year. Shark sent another under warranty no issues. I’ve never used a machine that cleans hard floors so well. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. Nice video.

The small roller on my 6 month old Shark Vector AZ2000W stopped working (which makes the vacuum much harder to push). When I called Shark customer service to get it fixed under the 5 year warranty, the Rep said the bottom nozzle is not repairable. It has to be replaced for a cost to the customer of $89.95, plus $20 shipping. She said the nozzle attachment is removable and not covered under warranty, only the vacuum motor is covered. I told the Rep and her supervisor, that my having to pay Shark over $100 to replace their own defective part was ridiculous and unacceptable; that I would never buy another Shark product again; and that I would let everyone on social media know about Sharks unethical business practices. She paused briefly, then replied that for only this one time, she could send the replacement nozzle for free, but I had to pay the shipping. When I refused to pay the shipping, she quickly replied, that for this one time only, she could replace the nozzle for free with no shipping charge to me. (I'm sure the conversation was being recorded.) She said they had them in the warehouse in the US, and the nozzle would arrive in 3 to 5 business days. Sure hope this helps someone else.

Hey Luke! I believer the blue release is held in place from the back side by that white actuator. If it is not moving back and forth freely, you need to reorient the release button with the white clip. There is a channel causes both to ride together. Sorry if that sounds vague, it's the best way I can think of to describe it. Let me know if you have any other follow-up questions!

Sorry to hear about the trouble, but at least you got some resolution in the end! Some manufacturers are much better at providing parts than others. While Shark is the worst offender, pretty much anything you can buy at Target or Walmart is what would be considered a "disposable vac". Regardless of price point, there is no ability to repair them. Next time you got to look at a new vacuum, you can get into a vacuum that is well made with parts availability for not that much more money than your Shark. Hope that helps!

I've rebuilt vacs before. I had an issue like this with a Hoover where the brush would not spin and it threw a light, it turned out to be a problem with the board. In my case, it was a bad solder joint. You may want to examine the board for any faults...after that, you're going to be stuck buying an entire piece. In that case, I'd just buy another brand. These Shark vacuums do not look very well designed.

For the best made machine, hands down, it is the Sebo. Check out the Dart, Felix and X7. They start just a little above Shark but are made in Germany and are tanks. Honestly, I don't have a bagless machine that I love. If Dyson made a non-Ball vacuum I would recommend that, but the Ball series is super complex and not as reliable. If you look on my channel I have a "Bagged Vs. Bagless" video using a Shark and a Sebo. Check that out and it will help explain why bagged may be a better way to go, even with a house that creates a lot of debris. Thanks for the question!

When I tested the first model with a fin design on it (Apex) I knew pretty quickly that they were going to wear down fast just by looking at 1 month's worth of usage. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is another nozzle design that will fix on the Vertex. The Stratos might, but it has the power fins and now interior access, so you would be back in the same boat. If you want to keep the vacuum for a while a nozzle from Shark should run around $100. It might be a good option to keep it going a little longer to save for a more robust vacuum like a Sebo, Miele, etc. Hope that helps!

I just recently forced myself to get a Vertex since the bastards discontinued the Apex. I wanted the Apex because of the traditional brush rollers and already notable suction. The Vertex is somehow more powerful in that it's literally a wee bit hard to push it on taller carpets when the motor is in high suction mode but I find the fins to be daft especially since the brushes, like you said, are soft. But not just soft, they're short too! Wtf Shark, you went backwards, not advanced :(

Thanks for the comment and perspective. I have tested the suction on both the Apex and the Vertex and they actually have the same amount of power (I wouldn't be surprised if they have the same motor. I think the difference in pushing is that the PowerFin brushroll on the Vertex isn't stiff enough to lift the nozzle on rotation, thus the nozzle just suction cups to the floor. Poor agitator design can often cause suction cupping which makes it hard to push and actually hurts cleaning performance. Thanks again, love hearing folks' real world experience!
