A perpetuity deal is definitely tough but being given 500k, it will definitely give him a major push for his company. Also, kevin will help him out to lower his customer acquisition cost, which will help him in the long term. this guy only has pre sales, i think it's fair offer given the risk and sales

@EGarrett, You're missing the big picture. Kevin's offer is going to make this guy a TON of money. Just like he did for Groovebook. Kevin is going to go to bat for this guy and land major licensing/distribution deals for him that will instantly skyrocket the company value. From there they could potentially sell the whole company for a MASSIVE payday. Winston owns 90% of the company, so the lion share of the $$ will go into his pocket. Winston is an inventor, he's not a sales guy so that would be a DREAM scenario. He'd be absolutely rich and could then focus on next product... and because Mr. Wondreful has the 50cent perpetuity, that just gives him bargaining power with the company that buys it out, so that way he can also get bought out for a good payday. It's an absolute win-win here.
He should had limited the royalty to untill he gets back 1M with the original 12% offer.

Those aren't high quality filters. If you're buying the higher end ones, you'll be spending more. Also a LOT of people never check these things. Your family with the kind of money to just have these "auto order" without even thinking about it or your classic amazon buyer who has items auto purchased are the market. That's not most people, but it's a large enough market for this.

I need this. I always forget to change it and certain conditions mean it needs more changing.
How is it powered? Do I need to be changing batteries every two months? If it is constantly monitoring air flow that must eat up some juice. The biggest benefit of this product seems to be the filter itself as it can be folded up to ship avoiding the heavy shipping cost.
Lol Robert "go canada"
If the filter is easy to do id do it. But as a business how often are theyy supposed to be changed. Couple times a year?
Love it! Let’s stay CLEAN!!!!🎉🎉🎉
That’s a smart counter cause he managed to keep the valuation with the one he walked in with. The royalties will be something that all shareholders will need to bare and if it sells in millions, it’s not going to affect the business.

I just don't see the need. In industrial settings monitoring filters isn't a new idea at all. Maybe I'm just not a visionary. Also don't like the idea of being limited to their filter.

Kevin is a character played by Mel Brooks...
Good idea... he should make a small air conditioner type
UV air purifiers is the best.
The less waste part of the pitch was interesting and if it’s a really good filter (3000+ rating), $20 isn’t terrible. The problem for me is that he said it’s a better mouse trap. A lot of people would rather have the same filter that is a little more expensive but helps the environment.

Can someone explain why a perpetuity deal for such a small amount of royalty is bad? I know it’s draining cash flow but his customer acquisition cost would go down too which offsets it. Hypothetically if he becomes a success and sells 5 million units (which is a stretch), he’s paying out 2.5 million dollars for a company that’s gonna be worth 50-100 million. When sales are incoming he’ll have no issues raising money to just offset the royalty or deal with any cash flow issues. Where does it really bite him then?
The thing theyre missing is most people forget about the filter and dont change it. Its worth the extra 100 bucks for the frame and peace of mind knowing you get it on the regular and thats one less thing you have to worry about. Plus its not like you change it every month. You change them like every 4 months. Also if they do that deal with the smart homes thing, which most new homes now a days are built with that, thats just great future with non-stop customers. They absolutely are out of touch with this thing. Cant believe they didnt see the merit in this.

Wow. Wifi for an air filter!
We have wildfires here too. Most filter products, no matter how great they may be at filtering, don't meaningfully affect the air *you breathe* unless your house is airtight, as in the air can't come in through gaps and cracks and has no choice but to come in via the filter.
