I think David was just trying to do his best not to overshadow his friend‘s business pitch and take the spotlight away from him. He obviously knows that his star status could potentially derail the viewers’ attention away from the product itself, which he wanted to maintain fully at center stage. So I think his nervousness was him delicately trying to avoid that

Just going on Shark Tank gives a company a boost and some of them aren't even genuinely there to get a deal. It's a win whether you get a deal or not that's why David would have encouraged his friend to go on. David working in entertainment would have known that and that's why he would have pushed the guy to apply.

@@adamfirst9321 That's exactly what I don't get about this. It's like when they told the girl-child "I won't ask you to leave school, therefor I'm out" - or actually ask a 15y old Child to leave school to be a CEO, because his father is keeping his other job to provide for his family until the business makes enough money to do that. And the Sharks say "no thank you" not because the product isn't good, but because they feel those people are not commited enough, while they just try to make a living... That's exactly the reason WHY they NEED HELP. And this scenario is just the same. They got a good product, but they lack experience and sales, they just need some help to thrive.

Im confused sometimes over what the Sharks are actually looking for. Some businesses like this one they say is a slow starter and isn't financially viable enough to invest, and others fulfill that requirement and then some, But they still dont invest cause they dont see any value add that they could provide. Businesses like this one needs the help of a shark, that's why he was there in the first place, and went out of his way to name a weakness of his which was Social Media, yet they dont offer that help for him?

Because at the end of the day it’s a premium pancake mix marketed towards a specific group. These guys only care about making money, in large quantities. How is he going to suddenly scale a business like this? Even if he had the greatest pancake recipe in the world, it’s still a nightmare logistically. Unless a shark is a passionate pancake/waffle connoisseur, there is no reason to invest

@@SushiBandit28 true! Maybe if it already had sales in the millions and were in big box stores already, it probably would've peaked more interest and would've even got a couple offers. But sitting at where it is right now, the sharks saw that they would need to put in a lot of their time right from marketing to opening doors to big box stores to figuring out the supply chain when/if it scales. So like you said, at this point only if one of them was really into pancakes then they would take it on

Actually I think that him not having social media makes it a huge opportunity for the sharks. They could counter 30-40% and make it work. They could get equity at a 250-500k valuation and sells it for 10M in 3 years

nope. if he wanted to do social media and get davids testimony he should/could have done that in preparation for the pitch on ST, jumpstart sales BEFORE the show, not promise to do it after. its obvious to everyone that David could have done a commercial rather than schlep onto ST with a freaking trolley, but for some reason they didn't do any of that to prepare a stronger sell. Weird.

I was thinking the same thing. Help him solve problems = no more problems. If he's making for 3 dollars and selling for 11, that's 8 dollars profit per bag. 140,000 was the investment ask, so they literally just need to sell 20,000 units. How hard can that be once you get a good social media going? Pancakes and waffles are popular foods, and a healthy and tasty version could easily be appealing to health conscious and agricultural conscious minds.

Mark is spot on, however I feel there's a simple solution, change the brand to something that sounds delicious and more attractive and focus on the product. If the product is successful, then you can always expand to further building the mission aspect. You can always have a parent company that handles the mission, and the product company that makes money.

So what if he sucks at social media, that's such an easy thing to change especially if you invest in hiring a marketing person with the investment or if he himself changes that habit. The product itself is amazing. Sometimes these sharks get caught on personality and small issues without thinking through potential of an amazing, amazing product. Man I hope he took their advice and put his product on social media when he is ready. I say “ when he’s ready” only because once an item ( most of the time) is on shark tank, the company’s sales usually go thru the roof. So if he doesn’t have the man power and product to sell on demand, then it could potentially hurt his business. Especially if it’s on back order. Of course now I’m going to google the company to see where they are at now since this aired at least 6 months ago. I really hope this guy succeeds! And that’s so awesome of David swimmer for helping him. He’s a wonderful man and does so many acts of kindness but doesn’t want or expect recognition for it. All he wants is to help who he can. Which makes him a wonderful “ friend” Which is still till this day, my FAVORITE show! And I watch it every single night before bed. Because it’s on MAX, It’s been on repeat for years! It’s really the main reason why we still pay for that streaming service. Anywho, I’m rambling now lol Good day!
