I was there, people were in the water because they didn’t know there was a shark, and there was a limited amount of life guards able to run down the beach and tell people to get out, for a little bit there was confusion because there was a dolphin so we all thought it was a dolphin, all in all I really hope everyone is doing okay now, it’s not the sharks fault either that’s his home too

I love how people are amused and think this is funny. It is not common AT ALL for SPI to have sharks much less shark attacks in this area.

Hammerheads are common down there, but they don't attack unless you mess with them.

That ridiculous and NOT TRUE ! Why would you think SPI doesn't have many sharks in the water ??! Its that type of ignorant talk that gets ppl in other wise preventable moments in life ..... Sharks are in ALL oceans except the Black Sea in Israel - And there have even been sharks found in fresh water.... So, I advise ppl stick to swimming in pools and to admire the ocean from the dry the sand.

Every time I'm down there fisherman catch hammerheads off of the pier. Hammerheads have always been in the area. Go seek out scientific information. There are sharks there.

There are so many shark fishers out here. The people are teaching these sharks that they can get food right there in the beach. Good luck swimming in those murky waters.

Why would anyone swim in those dirty murky waters anyways.

Go to the pool shark attack are crazy this summer

Imagine that....sharks in the water.....that's the chance everyone takes going in there...hoping for the person, a fill recovery

After studying shark behavior after orca attacks we now know that sharks flee the scene when they smell shark blood in the water. Maybe start chumming the water a little bit with shark blood? It doesn't take much for them to flee.

I was just fishing there last week

I wonder if a lot of sharks around or if it's one..I'd be very surprised if it was the same shark, but it is possible

So they didn’t get out of the water after the first attack? Sigh 😂

I went here for spring break

sharks have recently been seen close to shore, and people severally bitten close to shore waste deep

The crazy thing is I’m also going there tomorrow.

@@RustyShackleford86868well just go to a clear water one if your in Florida you can go to Silver glen springs in Marion county it’s very nice I went there 3 days ago and it’s very nice the water is crystal clear you don’t need any filters if you go on a sunny day the water shines just warning when you first go in the water is a bit cold lol 😂 but otherwise there’s only a couple fish and there’s supposed to be manatees but I never saw any so idk 🤷‍♀️ but it’s definitely a trip worth going to and make sure to bring goggles cuz it’s very nice under water gorgeous ❤❤

I heard stuffing your swimsuit with raw squid works as a great shark repellent.
