Shark AI Ultra Review - 10+ Tests and Analysis
The latest updated list of robot vacuums we recommend: www.consumeranalysis.com/guid...
The Shark AI robot on amazon - geni.us/B1CInl
Note:
The Shark AI Ultra has several different "submodels", each in a different color - the AV2511AE (white), AV2501AE (gold), RV2502AE (silver), and the AV2501S (black, 30 day capacity)
Other than color, the robots are identical. The only exception is the AV2501S, which has a smaller self-empty docking station, with only a 30 day capacity. All of the other listed submodels have a docking station with a 60 day capacity.
We tested the RV2502AE for this review. But, our review applies to all of the listed submodels above - since the robots are the same and their self-empty docking stations all feature the same (bagless) design.

This is a bit subjective. Not only I bought it but I bought a 2nd as well. Having 2 labrador retrievers I would have to spend 30 bucks a month in bag replacements. With one shark per floor there are no more hairs. It is true that it could have been better. The app does not allow for multiple cleans in a day, you instead have to do that manually. However, I keep on hearing about other bagless self emptying robot vacuums and I have yet to come across one! This one seems to be the only choice and in all honesty we are very happy with both of our sharks. You can really tell the difference if it does not run for even one day. Again, with 2 dogs, any emptying dock that needs a bag is a no go but I can verify the Shark AI does its job. 8/10 for me because I know in a few years they can launch the same thing with a better main and side brush and a better app. A better app and/or a new design for the spare parts would be enough to make this a 9/10 easy
Wow, man, thanks! I almost bought it. I guess, this is the only person who really shows pros and cons of vacuums. All others did not even mention the struggle to clean along walls. Thanks!
Good to have you back, always useful, succinct and informed reviews 👍🏽

A deep, professional review. Thank you.
Wow. Thank you for the review!
I love your reviews, no fluff, precise, keep it up... Maybe review the Makita robot vacuum? :)

The Shark robot vacuums work well for most people since they are greatly priced and do decent enough performance. If you get the new 2-1 vacuum it has better side cleaning.
Get this and buy the upgraded side brushes for a few bucks. Works very well for me!
Would jury rigging additional brushes to turn the singular brushes into a standard 3 point brushes address the weakness near edges?
Honestly a bit shocked by what I'm seeing here given that I own three models in the AI Ultra lineup. Everything in the ultra lineup is practically the same, with only a couple minor differences. Be it on carpet or on hard floors, ours do an amazing job, which is why I find it rather strange that the tests ran here seem to tell a different story. In all fairness to the robot, at least a couple of your tests could be considered worst case scenarios as far as debris goes. But again, just surprised because my dog leaves similar amounts of cookie crumbs (of various shapes and sizes very similar to that seen in this review) and yet my vacs, on every floor, have no issue whatsoever handling this. Sure, they're not perfect, but in no way have my vacs ever performed as poorly as this particular bot in this review. I'm telling you guys, my floors used to be plagued by cookie crumbs from my dog, and since purchasing a Shark for every floor I've been able to walk completely barefoot because my floors are always completely clean and my corners look nothing like what was seen here. I no longer vacuum the hard floors anymore aside from the minimal debris left behind in corners. Very strange results IMO.

I think the vacuum was updated with cleanedge and matrix clean and in this video the older model without those features was analysed. For some reason shark did not give the updated robot a new model number.
may you please review the Shark AI Vacuum and Mop model one? Thank you!!

@@austinwhatley9133 or use this to search "Upgraded Replacement Parts Accessories for Shark IQ Series R101AE (RV1001AE) R101 (RV1001) AV970 AV993 RV2001 Vacuum Cleaners self-clean Main Bristle Roller Brush Side Brush HEPA Filters Pre-Filter"
If you run ultraclean (runs a second pass) in a high traffic area or area with a lot of debris, it will have better edge cleaning performance. You shouldn't have to but the cleaning will be better. The Sharks are also often on sale and are a decent value (the self empty ones not named IQ), but are not worth paying MSRP for one.
As an engineer I really appreciate your analysis. Makes me want to play with different side-brush designs. Now, do I want to shell out $160 for a refurb? I think I'll hold off.
Most of these issues seem like they maybe able to be fixed with firmware updates.
Compare with irobot i7 plus bro? What better
Without the multiple maps feature is the Shark AI Robot’s drawbacks.
its not multi-floor capable. You need to remap every time you want to do a separate floor. If one floor has electronics/wiring you can not designate a No Go Zone till after mapping. Meaning you have to block that section off physically.
I thought the ai ultra had "clean edge" tech instead of the 2 side brushes?

It looks like the "2in1 Robot Vacuum and Mop" model has this feature. The standard robot vacuum models (like the one I tested) do not.

@@consumer-analysis actually the rv2502ae was updated with cleanedge and matrix clean but for some reason the model number was not changed.

Shark vacuums are junk. I have the beige version of the model in this video. Mine broke in 3 months and they refuse to honor the warranty because I unscrewed a single screw that held on a side brush. They said that voided the warranty.
BOUGHT ONE, god awful app. cant connect to phones , cant map, cant connect to wifi. big yikes
