He can build 2 tall towers 1 each for his best permits. He can build the rest in an airplane or something idk.

I know from experience that A LOT of players get to iron gear, build a house, build a farm or some animal pens and quit because they can't find any other goals for themselves. Me and my friends swap worlds every few months (or years, depending on burnouts) and sometimes we rush Elytras in a few days, sometimes we run a month or two without them. And sometimes one of us just decides to stay away from flying for a while

Definitely. I've played casually for over a decade (mostly bedrock until a couple years ago, though), and the only times I've ever fought the dragon or gotten an elytra were on servers. Except for a few times I specifically played end-only worlds (buffet-mode), I don't think I've ever had an elytra in single-player and I know I haven't beaten the dragon. I tend to start a world, play until diamond armor, then quit. I also play a lot of hard-core poorly. I never bothered with redstone/farm-building, so rockets can be a scarce resource as well.

​@@TheFansOfFictionI also play single-player on bedrock and have been playing for a similar amount of time. Although I prefer to continue playing in the same world until a major update is released. During all of that time, I have only been to The End once, and I am someone who couldn't be bothered with trying to ever gain Netherite, or a beacon. I have always assumed that these were things that only online-streamers do. They have just become pointless, unattainable items within the game.

@@MonsterJayk I will say, I've tried the haste thing on a server and it makes _all_ the difference. As someone who used to make a game of flattening "small" worlds with only stone tools, I highly recommend it for even moderately sized projects.

When the end cities first came out, I made a vanilla mod that makes you start in the end and allows you to turn chorus flowers into wood and find ores from mining endstone. It basically reversed Minecraft by starting with defeating the ender dragon and then getting back to the end. But then I noticed that with a bit of strategy and patience, it was easy enough to conquer an end city with nothing but stone tools and chorus fruit for food. I always get an elytra because I like technical Minecraft so I need farms and resources and they are usually far away so shulker boxes are also a must. In my current world though, I have been playing so long I have a dozen elytras and a full auto shulker farm so I don't even need to go back to the end.

I’ve been playing Minecraft since like 2015 and I’ve never beat the enderdragon or felt the need to. Playing the game organically you would never know how to even do that, and the most fun I have is building and exploring!

Its true. I never thought making it to the End was attainable until I started watching Hermitcraft, and even then for a while it seemed out of reach. The first few times I went to the End, I was playing on a server with friends and we all took out the dragon as a team. It seemed really hard back then! Its hard to figure out a lot of the deep lore of Minecraft without guide videos.

I've ran a realm for 6 years and various other servers for 6+ years before then. We typically open the end about a month into the season, 2 weeks if it's a half-length season, but this is rare. Our seasons typically last around a year, though they used to be ~6 months when game updates were more frequent. The average player may join us for the dragon fight but does not last much longer than that. We often fall from ~30 active members before the fight to ~10 or less afterwards.

On the Elytra... hubs and I have been playing on our Realm for roughly 2 months almost daily and I think we are still at least a month away from being able to go to the End and try for Elytras. He's never played before and I've been playing since it was released for Playstation, and playing Java for 6 years now. We spend alot of time adventuring and generally just having fun (me teaching and him learning). So I would say realistically, seeing hermits get them so quick is almost mind blowing lol.

I've sunk some hours into Minecraft and I've never fought the dragon and didnt know it was more than a sandbox game for the first year I played. One of my students had to tell me there were boss mobs in general. I didnt play until I was an adult and didnt watch players on youtube until a few months ago. I barely realized you could make Redstone contraptions! I was happily building mountain bases and castles in creative and just doing my own thing when I felt like creating things.😅

I have been playing Minecraft since it came out and just used they elytra for this first time in December, I always played modded until then so always had alternate mean of flight.

Just checked the stats on Xbox achievements... in a non-cheating vanilla minecraft world 4.83% of players have defeated the dragon.

To be fair to this stat less players have: Baked a cake 4.13% Made a dispenser 4.63% Dry a sponge in a furnace 1.86% Cure a zombie villager 3.50%

Water Breathing Enchant and magma block. Where there is water, there is less mob spawns. I'd keep the water and be able to reach all the ore. Probably would just use sticks to get just the achievement.

Interesting point that most minecraft players don't get Elytra. I've always been a huge Elytra fan, I did the knockback bow trick back before rocket power, etc. I love end raiding, I tend to rush the Dragon fight, and I play on the same world for a long time. The server I play on has had some new casual members recently that won't even come along to the End, rarely use Elytra even when given one, and if they weren't playing with me and other minecraft veterans, I don't think they ever would get an Elytra. It's an interesting thing I never really would have expected. Even some of my friends who are minecraft veterans don't want to bother End busting and just ask me to get them Elytra and shulker boxes. XD

Yeah, Ive never used an elytra. I've gotten one only once, but I didn't want to use it, cause I didn't want it to break (still playing like before mending, 'cause I've never gotten mending except on a fishing rod, and also never think to get it). That's why I never use diamond armor or tools too.

Minecraft existed before mending lol. We used to actually put in an investment of diamonds and time whenever we wanted to break blocks faster. I started out only using stone tools because I wanted to save my iron, but now all that is just too easy. You can make a full auto iron farm in like 10 minutes that provides a lifetime supply of iron such that you just ignore iron ore.

I happen to know there are a lot of nonbinary or genderqueer people in his community and he knows that too. He doesn’t care about virtue signaling, he does care about being inclusive of his actual nonbinary fans. Like me. I personally have sent him a message thanking him for his inclusive language and he responded to me so I know he knows it’s actually appreciated by real people. But it makes you uncomfortable because you don’t understand that nonbinary people are real and deserving of courtesy.

Minecraft is better without elytra. Rails could use a buff though, tbey are the most minecraft-y mode of transportation. It would be useful if rails were better long distance in future updates. Maybe we could get a trussed rail block that would be self-supporting? (Obsidian rails or something?) Horses, path blocks, and minecarts are where its at.

9:40 I have a survival world that has been a world for, 5 years or so, and I have yet to enter the nether.

Iskall, as a console player. I get wings in every world I start, but I dont rush it. Once I kill the dragon, I lose motivation in the world.

For the elytra question, I do indeed mostly not get the elytra. But that's not because I cant get it or not willing to get it, it's just that when I play with people they always want to do the end dragon as a community event, but they never stay that long. I have proven on a few servers where that wasn't the case that getting to the end doesn't take that long, and before one day is even over I can have an elytra(I genuinely only rush it when they annoy me trying to force KZread concepts in before any infrastructure are even made, like trying to do diamond trades day one for what is basically trash comparatively, like 20 carrots for a single diamond is a ridiculous price)

10:20 i’m 20, i’ve been playing mc since the mcpe version was only like 100x100. i’ve only beaten the game and gotten elytra once, and that was on a server with my friends after 3 months lol

For the record on my single player world it tends to take me a while to get to the End bc im busy dicking around. But in multiplayer and tend to get and elytra in a few days.

I would lean towards Ren's take on Minecraft players. I've played it a lot and I have played games since before the NES existed and I have never gotten an Elytra in Vanilla. End busting is so risky looking to a casual player. Even setting up a properly broken Villager trading hall is quite a lot of work and trial-and-error for the average player. Having access to cheap/time saving enchantments seems like a must before attempting anything where you can lose all of your gear. At least for more risk averse people like me maybe IDK.

on the endgame stuff, i've played minecraft for hundreds of hours but never been to the end. i only really play to build silly little houses.

I've played MC for years across several platforms and never got an elytra or beaten the enderdragon. The only time I did want to try, the only stronghold in my world spawned without an end portal lol.

i personaly am fine never getting an elytra. if im on a multi player server i usually only have one because some one takes pitty on me and gives me one... i try reallllly hard to not lose it XD

I've played in my survivor mode 1 years and still have not gotten my elytra in this server.

My friends and I usually play modded, so we are a bit of an outlier probably. But if we play vinella we usually would get elytra day 2 or 3

iskall you should start calling these miniEP's (ep=Episodes) and you could organise them better by making the title, Hermitcraft miniEP - 9.1 (then 9.2 9.3 and onwards) for the viewing experience it helps us figure out how to watch these behind the scene episodes

In my own experience the reason most casual players don't bother with getting elytra is because our computers are no where near good enough to handle flying in the game 😭 my laptop would crash

There are seperate permits for flight and explosive fireworks. iirc, Mumbo has the permit for explosive rockets
