2003 Western Conference First Round Game 4, April 27, 2003 | The Lakers needed big games from their stars after blowing game 3 at home against the Timberwolves, and they got exactly that. Shaq was a monster all game, scoring a series-high 34 points while pulling down 23 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists. Kobe, although struggling from the floor, was able to drop 32 points by getting to the line 17 times and making 16 of them.

The LA Lakers got off to an early 11-19 start to finish 50-32, Kobe Bryant black mamba carried the load on his shoulder, avg 32.6 PPG (including a 40-point in nine straight games) to kept the LA Lakers afloat, while Shaq was immediately missed the first 14 GM's off-season toe surgery, and Shaq says,he got hurt on company time, so he rehab on company time(RIP Kobe)♥️💋😇🙏😢😭

There's people who make the claim that because of his mediocre free throw shooting Shaq couldn't stay on the floor in the fourth quarters of crucial games. This game amongst many others disproves that myth. Shaq was always clutch, he's a player who played up to the moment. It's evident in that tip in and numerous other moments. Look at KG a much "better" free throw shooter missing when the game's on the line. Regardless of skillset, there's being clutch and not being clutch. Ask Chris Webber one of the most talented players ever, who was never clutch.

Forgot KG missed the free throws at the end of this game. Had the Lakers right where we wanted them and blew it. Also on the last Shaq tip in, KG was out on Kobe and wasn't in position to get the rebound. Rasho has to make the play on Kobe so he can't get the rebound and Shaq is right there to tip it in. So frustrating.

KG pulled a Chris Webber in this game but for the most part, him and Duncan with inferior supporting casts put up much better numbers vs my Lakers in the 2003 playoffs than Chris Webber did with a stacked roster vs that same Lakers team in the 2002 WCF. 😂🤣.

i know people are gonna argue shaq was the only reason kobe got them rings which might be true when they won the 1st ring because kobe wasn't all that yet but for the rest of the time no....they needed each other as well as shaw robert and fisher plus others people make it seem like it was only shaq. if shaq was so great he would have won a ring when he was in orlando just like lebron sure he is a awesome player. just like shaq bron has power an strength 1 on 1 you just won't stop him but it takes key players to along with a shaq or lebron to win rings thats why lebron went to the heats there lied bosh ray and wade. if he was great all on his own he would have won the first time he was in Cleveland.

Put it in proper context. Injured 21 years old Kobe Led the 2000 playoffs in steals Led his team in assists Averaged 21pts 4.5 rebs 4.4ast in the 00's playoffs, and who was intentionally injured by Jalen Rose, who saved the team in a game 4 takeover despite being injured averaged... 15pg on 36% shooting in his first Finals while winning the championship Unlike the 26 years old extremely healthy, force fed g.o.a.t who averaged 17.8pts in the 2011 Finals which was his second appearance in the Finals, while being on a superteam, and losing against a one star led team. Game 4 8pts 27%fg HEALTHY yikes... Also the game after Kobe's injury, the Lakers lost, giving the Pacers there first win in the series. I guess the dominant Diesel couldn't carry the Lakers in game 3 like injured Kobe did when he fouled out of game 4. Guess Kobe was way more important than your letting on that year. Also Kobe vs Shaqs numbers in the WCF's game 7 against the Blazers which got them to the Finals against the Pacers Kobe 25pts 11rebs 7ast 4blks 2to Shaq 18pts 9rebs 5asts 1blk 4to Let's stop downplaying 2000 21yr Kobe. He was already top 5 in the league because of his skill and tenacity on BOTH sides of the ball

Shaq had 2 more points then kobe, 18 more rebounds, 1 more assists and 2 more blocks. Kobe only beat shaq in steals by 2 more. Shaq put up 34 points, 23 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. Kobe had 32 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 0 blocks and 3 steals. Just saying shaq was still the best player on that team.

@@Idkokay23 my bad was lebron or larry bird shooting guards?? But the reason those players got wide open shots was because they had to double or triple team shaq lol. What's your point??. That's what makes a great player a great player. Shaq could of forced up shots like kobe but he understood that if he got doubled or tripled he would get wide open shots for players who couldn't create shots for themselves. In this game shaq had more points, 18 more rebounds, more assists and more blocks. The only thing kobe did was jack up shots and shoot 32% from the field in that finals. Get off his nutsack.
