    Food and not having the drive to be the best is what stopped Shaq. Shaq did offensive foul a lot with that bow but the refs gave him some slack prolly cause he got fouled so much. He did have mad skills but he should have been at least the best center ever. He just didn't have the drive his whole career. He got by with his size and skills and just let himself go physically. If you put Kobe's drive in Shaq and he's prolly the greatest player of all time. That's why they call him unstoppable force instead of the greatest center of all time.

  • @jakemiller270

    6 жыл бұрын

    MrShanester117 He was so dominant in iso situations that the NBA changed the illegal defense allowing it to be easier to contain Shaq with quick doubles and even zones(not that it helped cause shaq coukd pass very well for a center). Theirs sources on Google that explain the exact rule in more detail.

  • @MrShanester117

    @MrShanester117

    6 жыл бұрын

    Jake Miller I honestly don’t think the change is connected to Shaq personally. There was a playoff game with San Antonio and Golden State. I think GS’s coach was Don Nelson. He kept taking his center and standing deep outside with him. David Robinson kept getting illegal defense because his man was so far away. This was the event that got the illegal defense argument started. That and Seattle was running something so close to the illegal defense that referees didn’t know what to call.

  • @jakemiller270

    @jakemiller270

    6 жыл бұрын

    MrShanester117 Yeah George Karl pushed the limits of the rules no doubt but if I recall the illegal defense was eliminated after the second title the Lakers won or after the 3 peat so I think Shaq had something to do with it while it may not be totally the reason.

    The big man post game died when Shaq retired. Now the game is played from the outside in instead. It doesn’t make sense from high percentage vs low percentage shots, but they shoot in higher volume.

    When he says "biggest" he actually means "greatest." Shaq isn't even in the top 10 of "biggest big men" in terms of height. In terms of greatness (domination of the game) though, he's one of the best, if not THE best.

    Biggest as in like body type. Notice how a lot of guys who are 7+ feet have narrower frames. Shaq was the one guy who was naturally thick. He was stocky as opposed to slim.

    no hes really one of the biggest. big doesnt necessarily mean height. theres been taller players than shaq but not many that are bigger, and certainly not many that were bigger but still as athletic and quick as a young shaq which is what was so special about him. you look at yao ming and then you look at shaq, shaq still looks physically bigger despite the height difference.

    They mean truly *biggest*. Perspective: Take your average 6footer well-chiseled athelete. Average legs, arms, toned bmi, etc. Now inflate the *entire* anatomy up to 7foot+, right down to the fingers and toes. That is rare, and distinctive in very few 7 footers in basketball. Look at Kareem; lanky, narrow frame, unusually disproportioned long legs. Yao, same way. Robinson, Duncan, Hakeem, etc. Most 7-footers have unusual frames. Shaq was different. He (and to an extent Wilt, although Wilt had a wide upper body he still had disproportionate legs) had that rare everything-is-just-plain-bigger build. And *ridiculously* strong, giving an incredible advantage in clearing their man when needed. The lanky 7-footers like Kareem and Hakeem had to do it with finesse and subtle moves, and developed those to a fine art. Shaq would literally just move you out of the way (and frequently did). Not an easy thing to do against a 245lb 6'10" forward.

    The only four words that could describe Shaq were best described by Charles Barkley the first time Chuck saw him: "That's a big dude."
