Alternatively, this game according to netherrealm is also called mortal combat 8, meaning that although the DC universe here is obviously an alternate one, the Mk universe can possibly be the prime one. Multiple dialogues suggest that the DC universe used for Mk 8 is the injustice universe.

It happened on complete accident. Superman used his heat vision on Darkseid as Darkseid was walking through a boom tube, and simultaneously, Raiden used his lighting as Shao Kahn was going into one of his portals. Both attacks from Superman and Raiden were destabilizing the portals and I assume it caused the souls of both Darkseid and Shao Kahn to slam into each other and merge into the big boss Dark Kahn, which in turn, was forcing the MK world and the DC world to also merge. And should the heroes had failed to stop the big bad, it would bring about the end of both worlds. All throughout the game, the DC side thought that the MK characters were working for the big bad, and vice versa for the MK side. But at the end of the day, Raiden and Superman jump Dark Kahn and save the day and split Darkseid and Shao Khan back into separate characters, only when that happens, Shao Khan is stuck on the DC side while Darkseid is stuck on the MK side.

@@Holzkissen. And so are the other realms, and then Shao Kahn can escape the Phantom Zone (and he did in his ending) and conquer the DC universe.

Guess General Shao needs to be sent to the Phantom Zone if Lei Chin Prison can't hold him lol

In mortal Kombat universe, darkseid got dark magic and multiple soul by Shang tsung, in dc universe, shao Kahn have evil power about dc universe

Cant say it makes nonsense. But it does have issue. Darkseid avatar is a percentage of the real darkseid that sits in the source wall of dc. Even if that version is disconnected he should enough power to steal raidens and recover.
