With all respect to Mrs. Shannon Lee, but she should not be so stubborn about the stories her mom told her. Yes, even Matthew Pollys book is not perfect and has some doubtful informations, i mean an author has the right to write down his own opinion, but the reason for her dad s fight with Master Zemin Huang aka Jackman Wong had other reasons. Primary because her dad was a hot head and was looking for confrontations, it had nothing to do with the chinese community didnt want B. Lee to teach non chinese. There are some fotographs of J. Wong who were taken before his encounter with Lee, and the fotos show Wong had already non chinese students, white Americans among them. The description how Lee deafeated Wong was correct by L. Lee Cadwell, even Wong s student David Chin admitted it. But the reason why the fight came togehter was potrayed wrong by Lee Cadwell, it had nothing to do with racism at all.

Actually according to Thai Chi master William Chen who was there as a witness (and had no interest to pull for either of them) said that there was no winner, Bruce started to attack very aggressively and ran out of stamina quickly, while Wong Jack Man just stayed on the denfesive, the match ended this way, but there's a very interesting detail about all this, Wong Jack Man after that day kept training in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Bruce from that day started to trash everything he'd learned so far, Wing Chun. tradional martial arts etc, pretty much proves that Bruce was rather disappointed by his fighting skills..

Believe what you want. Of course anyone has the right to have his opinion, but i am among the people who thinks Mr. Wong got enough attention in the past decades, way too much. The only real controversity was that he lied about it later, that's all. Anyone with a little bit of knowledge about street fights knows they dont last 20-25 minutes, not even 5 or 10, they are usually over in either a couple seconds or 2-3 minutes, but never 10, 20 or even 25 minutes. And its also strange Mr. Wong never had the guts to say anything about it during the time Mr. Lee was still alive. Simply think about that. "pretty much proves that Bruce was rather disappointed by his fighting skills" Well, Yoichi Nakachi was a black belt in Karate and 2nd degree black belt in Judo. Bruce destroyed him in 11-13 seconds because contrary to the coward Jackman, he didnt run away and stood his ground. This took place in November 1960, almost 4 years earlier. To smash a Karate and Judo black belt to bits in 13 seconds isnt bad. I doubt Jackman could have done the same with Yoichi. And ppl who say Lee threw his whole style away after the Jackman fight take this informantions mostly from sources long after Bruce was gone. Sure he developed his own style and Jeet Kune Do, but this doesnt mean he considered what he did in 1964 as useleless Example from Profssional Fighting: Muhammad Ali was able to beat George Foreman with a bluff, the so called rope-a-dope. He tried the same against Joe Frazier 3 and Ken Norton 3, but it failed because both men didnt fall for it. Did Ali threw away his whole fighting style because of that? No! And no one would. Styles makes fights. And the Jackman fight only showed Bruce using Wing Chun straight blasts against the back of the head of a coward who runs away like a girl is a bad idea. An other example: A guy like Leo Fong stated once Bruce told him if he had known uppercuts and hooks in 1964, he would have used them against Jackman. Two points which make this strange: 1) He himself boxed in 1958, winning the School Championships against Briton Gary Elms. 2) James DeMile stated how Bruce, he and others were watching the Floyd Patterson vs Ingemar Johansson trilogie around 1960. Patterson had excellent uppercuts and used them many times. So a guy who boxed himself in 1958 and watched World Championship Boxing in 1960 didnt know uppercuts and hooks in 1964? Makes no sense. So much about this. Think what you want. But the Jackman camp lost its credibility completely. Rick Wing changed the story of the fight with Bruce all 10 years, and the guy who arranged the fight, David Chin, told Lee-Biographer Matthew Polly the version of Linda Lee-Cadwell (Lee s widow) is 100% true. Bruce defeated Jackman the way like she described, and David himself stopped the fight after his master Wong was helpless on the ground. After Chin changed the camp and said Lee won, the Wong camp makes themselfs a joke still to claim Wong won or it was close. Cheers

I think it would be great if the upcoming Ang Lee Bruce Lee biopic focused on this early part of his life. I do feel like we have seen a lot of his rise to fame in other films. I know this may seem disrespectful to the legacy of Bruce but as a fan, I feel like including the realities of his affair with Betty Ting Mei (sp?) would be interesting. Its the only known affair Bruce had and I think exploring that relationship would be quite interesting. Id also personally like to see more of his homelife as he was a good father and husband. Id like to see how obsessed he was with pushing the limits of the human body.

@@bruceleeeditz to understand that bruce literally was jumping white kids in china & why he would only tag white stunt men on movie sets? Bruce from his own admission questioned his ability to fight without his gang, shortly before being sent to America and started teaching martial arts while acting. where he got his expert knowledge is beyond me because ip kicked him out, and his father sent him to the states. all that before he had the opportunity to leech off actual fighters like chuck, gene, and joe. the man was a narcistic liar, its hard to get around that. dont blame his culture, when bruce was simply a pos person and ip probably saw this for what it was. ps. why are you liking and love reacting your own comments lol.
