This movie gets hate? On the Marvel Scale, this is a SOLID B+ movie. And it's got the best lightsaber fight since "Jedi".
FYI...Ben Kingsley's character Trevor played the Mandarin in one of the Iron Man movies. That's how he fits into all of this.

AIM was using him to make the Ten Rings be the bad guys when it really was AIM. He was putting on an act as the leader of the Ten Rings.
This was a beautiful movie. The father learned that his wife did live on but in his children as when his son used his wife's style. Further, he passed the rings to his son. His son realized and knew the rings were not meant for one man but help mankind as a whole.
Tony Leung for sure has many great and powerful movies in his huge and so diverse filmography... I'm just gonna name a few of them that automatically come to my mind when I think of him... 🙂 • "Hero" (2002), definitely is my favorite Tony Leung's movie, the pure poetry of it all, the way the story is so cleverly crafted, and the deep message behind it all... You're gonna love it, Kazzy ! 🐉 • "2046" (which is the 2004 sequel to the 2000 legendary movie "In the mood for love"), what a deep and inspiring way to tell what "true love" is... Got a soft spot for "2046", but for sure you might very much enjoy "In the mood for love" too, because it's an absolute classic when it comes to tell a love story in its purest form and with a very deep emotion to it. 😭 • "Infernal Affairs" (2002), which is the original movie+story that's been told in the famous Hollywood movie "The Departed" from 2006. The intensity, the tension and the convoluted layers of this movie are just mind-blowing, and what an iconic finale. 🔥 • "Red Cliff" (part 1 & 2 ; 2008-2009), which tells the story/history of The Three Kingdoms, and it is a grand fresco that will for sure highly please you in your will to discover this culture... 🇨🇳 • "Chungking Express" (1994), which might be the movie that made Tony Leung a star, the movie is such a fun/crazy ride and has some memorable scenes ; a true classic. 🌠 • "Bullet in the Head" (1990), which is a true slap in the face on so many levels. 🤯
Trevor (Sir Ben Kingsley) was the “Mandarin” in Iron Man 3.

Didn't see the scene where Trevor is pinched by the real Mandarin? I know it's in the film as I seen it but I didn't Kazzy react to a scene that was in the film??? Or did they bring the film out in the US and Canada without these scenes that show Trevor in Prison? As I didn't see it?? Or did I blink and miss it? 😉

Kazzy, my lovely queen, I am glad that you watched it. One word to describe Shang-Chi? *Magical.* I cannot believe I waited this long to finally see what everyone was talking about. I'm absolutely kicking myself for not having watched it earlier. I'm also upset at myself that things were spoiled for me without having seeing it. Now, after finally watching it, I am freaking in love with this movie and its mythology. Also, love the mystery and cosmology surrounding the Ten Rings (and other mystical weapons coming later on). Also loved how tragic it was. Wenwu/The Mandarin, played by Tony Leung, is one of the most compelling MCU villains I have ever seen. So heartbreaking, so menacing and so formidable. Shang-Chi himself? I automatically welcome him as a future Avenger. Also, the possible return of the Ten Rings organization, now under the management of Shang-Chi's sister, is quite intriguing. Also, now that I have seen it, I can now see why Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (aka Avengers 5). I now have the utmost faith in him delivering another fantastic MCU movie. I not only cannot wait to see this again, but I cannot wait to see an eventual sequel. God, this movie is so amazing! By the way, the actor playing Shang-Chi is named Simu Liu. He trained hard to learn how to do the Martial Arts action. He's also in the Netflix series "Kim's Convenience", and is slated to be in the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling. Also, the friend, Katy, is played by Akwafina. Also also, fun facts: the actress who played Shang-Chi's sister, not only trained hard to master the Martial Arts fighting for the movie (since she never did any action fighting before), but also met her husband while filming. That's hella cool. Also also also, the monster Wong "fought" is the Abomination from the Incredible Hulk movie, played by Tim Roth. He will appear in the She-Hulk TV show on Disney Plus, which premieres next week Thursday.
One of my favorite parts of this movie is at the end, when he defeats the Dweller in Darkness, you can see that in truth, it was the combined power of his mother and father that let him do it. After he sends the rings into the Dweller, he takes the graceful stance of his mother (open hands) as he uses the power of the Protector to not only stay in the air, but to make the rings start moving inside the Dweller. He then quickly changes to the closed fist aggressive stance of his father, as he uses the rings to strike the final death blow. Absolutely beautiful filmmaking and choreography on display here.

That's a wonderful description of this awesome film xx
Yes Tony Leung is considered to be a legend in Hong Kong cinema. Two of his movies In the Mood for Love and Chungking Express directed by Wong Kar Wai is always on critics best movies of all time lists, especially for its cinematography. Awkwafina is in the fun Crazy Rich Asians movie and she did a more serious film called The Farewell that I highly recommend. Also the woman that played a small role as one of Shaun and Katy's friend was in highly acclaim movie Everything Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh who is also in this movie.
Easily top 3 solo MCU films!!
One thing I love about this movie is that the lines of good and evil are kinda blurred. But the whole movie is just so good. It almost feel like the early days of mavel.
8:40 OMG, just realized their friend is the daughter in Everything Everywhere All at Once! Along with Michelle Yeoh (and has a connection to Tony Leung, in a roundabout way, via director Wong Kar Wai). Besides Tony Leung's movie, I'd also highly recommend Everything Everywhere All at Once (you've probably had it recommended already many times)
As far as the fighting form of Tai Chi, it's called "Taijiquan" (pronounced "Tie-G-Chwon") which means grand ultimate boxing. It refers to the principle of the grand ultimate which is demonstrated in the Taijitu (Yin Yang Symbol) and is a primary principle of Taoism. Taijiquan is a Chinese martial art that is understood by very few people, but like all true martial arts can be very brutal when applied. I forget the guy's name, but a grandson of a famous Taijiquan master was lazy and frequently ill, so to get the health benefits of practicing Taijiquan but to get around the strenuous martial arts training, he took just the slow soft parts of Taijiquan and put them in a short easy to do routine and what we call "Tai Chi" (Pronounced "Tai-G") was born. Tai Chi is a beneficial form of exercise that is great for learning footwork and balance but it is an exercise routine based on a martial art and not an actual martial art itself, as it is missing the hard, or Yang, element.
Love this movie, definitely one of the best of Phase 4 & a bit under appreciated in my opinion. The action scenes are shot spectacularly & the characters are great. Also still can’t get over how sick that poster is!
I don’t think Xu Xialing aka Shang Chi’s sister had gone fully evil or taking over her father’s empire. She has her own empire and just building upon it adding the men from the Ten Rings. I think she will be the middle woman, not exactly evil…but not always going to side with the good. She goes on her own path, but for sure she will bump heads with Shang Chi when he finds out she didn’t shut down anything down. However, if the first film shown us..she does care and looked up to her brother. He didn’t let her go when she told him to let her go. So I think she will ultimately help the GOOD side, but again in her own way. 😂
Bruce, Wong, and Abomination will all return in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law which premieres next Thursday. In the meantime, you should check out the soundtrack for this film. Record label 88 Rising brought a number of their musicians together for this album, and half of the songs made their way into the final film. And the story about Ta Lo was also published in a childrens' book that's tied to this movie. It's called "Who Guards My Sleep?" Some behind the scenes trivia: Andy Le who portrays Death Dealer (the guy in the white mask) was also Simu Liu's personal trainer. The two of them started practicing the fight choreography months ahead of filming. Also, when Simu's parents would call him, it wasn't to check up on him but rather they wanted to know if he got to work with Tony Leung that day.

Hands down my FAVORITE Marvel movie! I legit saw it in Imax like 4 weekends in a row
Fun rewatching this with you. Great film, great reaction!
Yes, Tony Leung is a legend. Many from the cast of this movie have also stated they were super stoked and felt privileged to be working with him.
You were at the top of the search page for Shang chi reactions, congratulations!
Hi Kazzy hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
"You met your match, buddy." "She's just effortlessly breaking his grasp." Only in the movies.
I've had a bad day and my anxiety has been absolutely destroying me tonight, but tuning into this has helped. Thanks for sharing your reactions with everybody.
It might have benn mentioned, but you should also watch 'Everything Everywhere all at once' with *Michelle Yeoh* as well - but only if you did not see it before, it would spoil all the fun for your audience 🤪. Awkwafina was also cast in that movie, but had to be replaced by Stephanie Hsu due to scheduling conflicts. Ke Huy Quan, the child actor of Short Round from Iniana Jones and the Temple of Doom and the Goonies is in that movie too after decades of absence from (on screen) acting. Michelle Yeoh and Awkwafina are both in 'Crazy Rich Asians' as well.
Trevor is the guy who played the mandarin in Ironman 3 and The abomination(from the Incredible Hulk)was the one fighting wong
One trivia fact that I hope you all share is that Shang-Chi (上気) means Rising Breath or Chi, as in life energy. And my favorite scene because of this, is when Shang-Chi is knocked out into the water and he's drowning but large bubbles rise up, ushering the Protector Dragon. It was the Dragon's Rising Breath that saved him and encouraged him to keep fighting.
I loved Wong tossing the drink back.

Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) was previously in the hilarious Canadian sitcom Kim's Convenience. It's on Netflix. If you want something with Asian actors you should check it out. Sadly it was canceled and they didn't even tell the cast. They just showed up for work and it was shut down.
You should watch Infernal Affairs! It’s my favorite one with Tony Leung. And glad you want to support more Asian actors ❤️
I have seen a number of Tony Leung movies in the early 2000s after I watched Infernal Affairs (Departed was a remake of this movie), he is one of my favorit asian actors.
Love this one Kazzy. You are my favorite reactor.
yes! i like these long reactions
Also, regarding the mythical creatures in this film all exist in Chinese mythology. Morris the chicken pig is a Hundun, and the word Wonton, as in the food, is derived from the shape of the creature.
Yes, it's Ben Kingsley, playing the same character he did in Iron Man 3. Shame you don't remember him
Last movie my Dad and I saw in theaters together, before he passed away. You hear Marvel announce their plans at Comic-Con for the next 3 or 4 years?
Kazzy just to let you know a while back back in the '90s when this movie while this movie was being written and trying to get made. Stanley himself wanted Brandon Lee to star in this movie. He wanted to do a martial arts movie with Bruce Lee son and this is the one
This and No Way Home are about the only solid films in Phase 4 in my opinion. The marketing really did Shang Chi wrong because it's a solid film with probably the best martial arts of the MCU. Plus, it had Michelle Yeoh one of the greatest female action stars of all time. The internal 13 year old inside me was screaming in joy the whole time.
This, Eternals and NWH are my only favourite movies of Phase 4 ❤️
I love this movie. It was actually the first MCU that prompted me to write fic from it! They filmed this all during the pandemic, and there were a lot of workarounds. You can barely see it!
"He signed the contract?" Did you missed the elevator scene lol
Ben Kingsley is in this film. You should watch "Sneakers". It has an all-star cast. Robert Redford, Ben Kingsley, Sidney Poitier, Dan Aykroyd, River Phoenix, William Strathairn and Mary McDonnell.
Brad Allan was an actor, martial arts choreographer and stuntman. He worked a lot with Jackie Chan and his stunt team Kazzy.
I think she’s reforming the 10 rings and rethinking and dismantling formal 10 rings operations.
This film is amazing and definitely in my top 2 films of Phase 4!
Really cool to hear you say that you're a fan of Bruce and Brandon Lee, those two made such an impact despite being so young. Tony Leung is a great actor, his work with Wong Kar Wai is heart-breakingly beautiful. I recommend Chungking Express. I'd also recommend Kung Fu Hustle starring Stephen Chow, the subtitled version
Xu Wenwu is my favorite Marvel villain because he is complex and not truly evil but lost. There is one question I have about reactions. I watch a few reactors on many movies. I have yet to understand the trying to predict a movie while watching it. Is it for the purpose of reactions or something some people just do. Personally I let a story take me and if I don't see something coming it is a pleasant surprise. This movie shows that Marvel has taken the next step to make its story telling a bit more complicated. Clear good and bad is more elusive.
The creature Wong was fighting in the ring was The Abomination. Abomination was previously seen in The Hulk (Ed Norton) and will be in the upcoming She-Hulk.
Great reaction as usual!
''Modigliani'' this movie is phenomenal, the score in particular is just gorgeous and different.
Great reaction to Shang-Chi Kazzy!😃 This movie was amazing and so glad u enjoyed it as much as I did when I saw it in theaters in IMAX! R u gonna react to the other Marvel movies that come after this one?🙂✌️
The first thing I saw Tony Leung in was a trilogy of movies called Infernal Affairs. Martin Scorsese remade it into what became The Departed
Yo yo yo Kazzi, it’s Yah Oh.
If you look closely one of the fighters on the lower level in a cage is a former black widow assassin
Your T2 guy is called Razorfist.
While it was never a conscious thought, I apparently assumed you were much younger than my 45 years. I know this because when you spoke about being a Brandon Lee fan before his death, I just sat here slack-jawed. Great reaction as always.
Did you recognize the fighters in that final cell fight before you saw Wong and Abomination fighting in that cage? It was a Black Widow vs an Extremis from Iron Man 3.
This movie is classy and stands out in my opinion.
I'm ok with how they changed the power of the Rings for the MCU. In the comics the Mandarin held each Ring on a different finger giving him ten different powers. Left thumb "Daimonic" emit energy along the electromagnetic spectrum. Right "Remaker" rearrange atoms/molecules speed up or slow down their movement. Left index "Incandescence" emit infrared radiation creating heat blast of varying temperature. Right "Influence" creates a concussive force; impact beam. Left middle finger "Lighting" emit electricity blast of varying current. Right "Spin" uses air creating a high speed Vortex beam. Left Ring finger "The Liar" magnifies the wearer's own psionic energy; mentally control people, transmit orders, create illusions. Right "Spectral" creates a disintegration beam that takes twenty minutes to recharge after using it. Left pinky "Zero" emits waves of cold temperatures creating ice blast; can lower the temperature of objects zero. Right "Nightbringer" can create an area of absolute darkness absorbing all light within it.
Her sister is just building her own empire not really fighting and conquering. Just a basic base of operations rebuild, they’re still allies don’t worry😄
Great movie. If we're ever in the same area, we'll go karaoke in tribute. ;-)
Thanks, Kazzy! ⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕ ⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕
big love
I watched this movie yesterday on Disney plus, i enjoyed it very much, for the most part
Something I don't see many people comment on is that his dad was immortal with the rings on so no amount of sucking would've taken it from him unless he let go of them which he did after realizing just how wrong he was
This has a connection to She-Hulk.
Oh, Kaz, yes it is Ben Kingsley. I'm not sure yet if you recognised him from Ironman 3, but either way, do yourself a favour and check out "All Hail the King" on Disney+ for the refresher you missed. It's only a few minutes long.
Hi Cassie!🙂Great reactions to Shang Chi and the Ten Rings!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I'm glad you were able to go to the lake and get away from the heat. You are correct with your pronuciation of Michelle Yeoh's name, it is YOH or YOWE. His sister did take over her father's empire, but she seems to be training women, and maybe it is not an evil empire anymore. Trevor (Ben Kingley) was in "Iron Man 3". Awkwafina was recently in the film "Jumanji: The Next Level". She also starred in a comedy series "Nora From Queens". Her real name is Nora from Queens. There is a sequel in developement by the same writer/director with Shang Chi returning. The film was great! Richer in story than the typical Marvel film. This film, "Guardians of the Galaxy", "Spider-Man: No Way Home", and "Avengers: Endgame" some of my Marvel favorites. Take care, Cassie!😘

I am suffering by having read the comics Fu Manchu, which where the story of Chang chi came from. The comics are much more a sinister story line, so a much more a better and a deeper story. 80% of it are cut out in the movie. Wondering who first came up with the Professor-X character, In Fu Manchu there were an Agency where the leader was a ball head leader who sit in a wheelchair. Chang Chi is a character that was trained through his life by the best of the best martial artists. His father was a very dark magician who controlled empire in the darkness of the world. Was quite addicted as a child to that comic series. What was interresting for me was how would you portrait a man that was trained through his life by the best of the best martial artist in the world. Like A Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan or....How would he look like???
10:24 This is where the fun begins
T 2 guy is Razorfist.
YES you must watch Tony Leung's films. Chungking Express is in my top 10 favorite films of all time. Tony (Leung Chiu Wai is his Chinese name if you have trouble finding any of his films) is in my top 3 favorite actors.....he is an amazing actor. Also, Hard Boiled is another great film of Tony's, but don't spoil yourself with the plot before watching.
Speaking of recommendations, watch Jackie Chan's movies (Rush Hour series, and his early works Snake in the Eagle's shadow, The Fearless Hyena 1979, Drunken Master etc...) Thanks. :) All of the animals (including the dragons, of course) are taken from Chinese mythology (Morris too). The fact that girls are not allowed to train with boys are also Chinese tradition. Shang-Chi's responsibility for his mother's death at this young age is also included in those traditions... In short this MCU Character is based on Chinese culture. Great reaction, Kazzy, as usual, I enjoyed it a lot.
I don’t think you fully caught who Ben Kingsley was. Remember the “Mandarin” way back in Iron Man 3? The actor that was hired?
If your a fan of this style & Bruce Lee you should react to "Warrior" a show on HBOmax. It is based off writings from Bruce and his daughter Shannon is part of the show. It is fantastic takes place in the 1870s during the Tong Wars
Definitely please react to more Tony Leung films I’d love to see your take on his Hong Kong romance films.
