I forgot to add the word "Modern era"...Yes Kapil is a great captain but I would rate him as the best cricketer of our country than captain....In nutshell, his captaincy is second and cricketing ability is first....I don't want Kapil to squeeze only as a best captain rather he is the best cricketer of our country...

This whole thing about Saurav Ganguly changing Indian Team is little over exaggerated. Ganguly had an incredible team of brilliant individuals namely Sachin, Dravid, Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj, Kumble, Harbhajan and Zaheer Khan etc. Which Indian captain in the past had such a line up. Have we forgotten how Kapil Dev inspired Indian Team to win the 1983 WC ? India started producing fast bowlers after Kapil Dev. Have we forgotten how Sunil Gavaskar inspired millions of Indians to stand up to fast bowling. Also we won the World Championship in 1985 under Sunil Gavaskar. What about the great Indian spinners who won the series for us in 1971 against England under Ajit Wadekar and MAK Pataudi. Didn't sachin change Indian Cricket by being inspiration to millions of Indians with his batting. Didn't Anil Kumble win so many matches for us in India. All these people changed Indian Cricket and it culminated under Saurav Ganguly's leadership. Saurav was an aggressive captain and showed it in his body language but his aggression was largely helped by the fact that he had great individuals under his team. Saurav definitely did his part during one of the golden era's of Indian cricket but to keep saying he changed Indian Cricket is disrespecting the contributions of Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar who laid the foundation for someone like Saurav, Dhoni and Virat.
