Jonathan Taylor is available for a trade. I would not get mad if we traded two-rounders for him and other Rbs backups. We could have a Two set RBs formation in the field with a fake to the right, then a left run, and vice versa. In addition, we could make plays by having CMC in the WR slot, jet sweep with CMC, yet have JT as the RB and vice Versa. We could have a Super Bowl offense. Also, the Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams, and Seahawks do not get him.

How about no? The smart move is to keep Purdy as the starter, and keep Trey and Darnold in competition for the backup role. Allen will remain the last option no matter who wins QB2 by the start of the regular season. If you want to dump on Lance for the first preseason game I suggest you learn how to actually watch football critically and judge performances as a whole rather than by petty, surface level observation.

The sister of and uncle to Eddie DeBartolo have no idea how to choose a franchise quarterback and build a good offense and defense around the quarterback to get him as successful as possible for 10 or more years like Joe Montana with 12 years and Steve Young for 13 years. The chances of winning Super Bowls with one franchise quarterback goes up significantly. I did a lot of research this past few days when I wondered why some NFL teams have 2, 3, 4, 5 and even 6 Super Bowl wins. What they all had in common was the fact that they had one franchise quarterback playing for at least 9 years with many of them playing 10, 14, 16 and up to 20 years such as Tom Brady for the New England Patriots. To these owners of NFL franchises, they proved that choosing a good quarterback who had good success in college and building a good offense for him to play with and a good defense to keep the opponents from scoring too many points, that their chances of winning NFC or AFC championships goes up a lot which is necessary to play the Super Bowl. Each team playing in the Super Bowl has a 50% chance of winning it. It doesn't always work out to have a franchise quarterback staying on a team like Dan Marino and Fran Tarkenton experienced who got their teams to many AFC and NFC championship games winning several of them to make it possible to win the Super Bowl, but they were on the wrong team to win the Superbowl. They both lost every Super Bowl game they played in but they both had a 50% chance of winning it which is much better chances then winning the NFC or AFC championship with several other teams competing. The 49er owners do not understand what Eddie DeBartolo understood about choosing a franchise quarterback ( Joe Montana ) and keep him playing for many years even after getting injured or not playing good enough to get the team into the NFC playoffs every year. Even when Joe had that terrible elbow injury which pretty much ended his career and didn't come back until late in the second season after his surgery, Steve Young had become the starting quarterback but when Eddie learned Joe Montana was cleared to play football again, Eddie wanted him to take the starting position back from Steve Young because he knew he had a possible NFC championship game with Joe and a possible Super Bowl win with him. However, his manager, coaches, fans, etc. did not agree with him so Joe was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs where he was the star for a couple years who was fully accepted by all the fans, coaches, etc. Even though he didn't win any AFC championship games for the Chiefs, he did get them into the AFC championship game but they lost to the Buffalo Bills. That is very close to another Super Bowl with a 50% chance to win it. That is why Eddie DeBartolo wanted Joe Montana to keep playing for him until he couldn't play anymore.

Based on your comment, your research has amounted to nothing. And your time was wasted. Eddie DeBartolo didn't "pick" Joe. The entire team's front office helped make that choice based on the scouting reports. And he was a 3rd stringer for a good long time before his number was called. Even after he started rising it wasn't a choice to only focus on him. They had backups for him the same as any other team does today for their best QB's. Tom Brady had backups, some of whom were thought to be his successor like Jimmy G. Did it pan out? No. Is it ever likely to? No. Even before his elbow injury Steve Young was Joe's backup and it was obvious he wouldn't be a backup for long with his talent and skill set. Everyone knew if Joe went down Steve would be ready when it was his turn. And he was. If they were focused on Joe they wouldn't have bothered drafting other talented QB's like Steve. Next Man Up. That's the mentality of every team in football. Franchise quarterbacks are just quarterbacks who're made to look better because the TEAM around them makes them better. What's the secret to Patrick Mahome's success since he hit the scene? His TEAM. His O line. His receivers and tight ends. The men who create and protect the pocket giving him time to make his progressions and throws and break open gaps for him to run if he needs to scramble. Great as he is, if he had a crap team around him he'd be another "average" QB just like any other under the spotlight. It wasn't Joe who made the 80's 49ers great. It was the entire team. His position is the most scrutinized. Always has been. But Joe wouldn't have any Super Bowl Rings if he didn't have his team around him like Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, etc.

@@TWDub Of course I understand that Eddie hired everyone who worked for him and that they found Joe Montana. I can easily see that you did not understand anything that I wrote about how some teams were able to win multiple Super Bowls instead of just 1 or none. In other words, I know you didn't read anything I typed. That is typical of lazy people who do not want to do any research.

I won't be going anywhere and I know that NFL franchise owners do not personally pick their quarterbacks. I have been an NFL fan for 61 years and a 49er fan since the 1981 season when Eddie's franchise quarterback, Joe Montana, was his future, even though Joe suffered multiple injuries and some bad years where they didn't make the playoffs. Eddie even wanted Joe to start after those two years he was not playing because of his elbow surgery. He wanted Joe to play instead of Steve Young but of course, he was shut down by his manager, coaches, etc.

"The sister of and uncle to Eddie DeBartolo have no idea how to choose a franchise quarterback" This statement alone shows you know nothing about an NFL franchise operates. OWNERS have -ZERO- to do with picking players. Not a single thing. Everything you said after that (yes, I read it all) has zero credibility based on your opening statement.
