@@davidlambert4823thing is those guys were projected to be picked that high, they looked like real players. Bronny isn’t even a top 60 player in this draft IN EVERYONES EYES! If his last name was Smith or Johnson, he would go undrafted. He’s a 6’1 point guard who has the potential to be a decent nba defender, Davion Mitchell is his ceiling rn with his current skill set at this age. I’ll bet you a million dollars that Bronny James will have a worse career than Kwame Brown.

Ntm, LeBron being elite this long is hurting that scenario. AD will be 32 in March. Let’s say LeBron plays 2 more yrs, you’re taking AD age 34+ vs rest of West? Haha…You get what I’m saying right. It won’t be with the lakers, but I agree he’ll find success. Quite literally every nba player turned coach with 0 experience in between has failed at their first stop (besides bill Russell but that doesn’t count because he started as a player coach. Anytime stuff didn’t work he just subbed in a 5x MVP winner until he got it figure out 😂) Only 2 of them have gone one to have successful careers: Kidd and Rivers. They didn’t have success with their first teams and aren’t exactly held in high regard today lol so history is not on their side.

I don’t think athletic ability has anything to do with coaching considering the 2 greatest lakers coaches ever were career role players 😂 Dude is a scrawny white guy with bad hops by nba standards. If he wasn’t a 3pt role player, he wouldn’t be in the league.

Whenever PMS talks basketball it genuinely upsets me. They’re casuals but they try to talk about it without looking into it. If you don’t wanna watch basketball, don’t cover it! Because you guys cover it the exact way you complain about the coverage of the NFL. It sounds like they get their takes from talking heads. The issue in LA has never been the coach, only the roster. If Eric Spoelstra was the head coach of the lakers for the last 2 years, they’d have the same outcome. THEIR ROSTER IS BOTTOM 10 AND THEIR EXPECTATIONS ARE TO BE CONTENDERS IN THE EYES OF THEIR FANS, PLAYERS, FRONT OFFICE, OWNERSHIP, AND MEDIA. And here’s this show feeding into that be idea by acting like this is a SURE THING! Out of the about 15 players turned coaches hired with no prior experience in the last 50 years of the league, here’s the list of everyone who had success with that team who hired them: (End of list)

The fact that Clutch Sports has come out and said Bronny won’t sign a 2-way deal upsets me. So not only do you have to waste a draft pick on someone who’d go undrafted normally, you have to sign him to a guaranteed deal to sit on the bench rather than developing him in the g-league.

Shows how little McAfee knows about the NBA. Steve Nash is known as a basketball savant and he flopped as a first time coach in BKN with zero prior experience. Jason Kidd is regarded as a basketball genius and it took him multiple coaching stops before he found a consistent level of success. Joe Mazzula is the wrong comparison bc mazzula has been an assistant at multiple levels for over a decade before Ime Udoka fumbled the job. FWIW the commentary around redick by ESPN talking heads had been a lot more complementary than it was for Steve Nash. With Nash, people like Stephen A Harper on his lack of experience a lot more and also played the racism card. Nobody’s doing that for Redick now. And as far as accolades go, Redick’s NCAA history doesn’t mean dick when it comes to evaluating NBA cred. Redick was absolutely a leader on his teams, but 12k points is only 279th. Do I think JJ will be a good coach? I think so, because he’s a people connector and has the stamp of approval from LeBron. But in this instance Pat Mac’s analysis is dogshit

At this point I compare JJ Redrick to Paul Westphal, the Basketball Hall of Fame guard who played for the Boston Celtics' 1974 N.B.A. champions, became a four-time All-Star with the Phoenix Suns and coached them to the league playoff final in 1993,Redrick an NCAA superstar at Duke University, who was the consensus national college men's player of the year in 2006, Redick played in the NBA for 15 seasons for the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Pelicans and the Mavericks. Paul Westphal was probably the best HS guard CIF Aviation HS in Los Angeles. It's always, good hire to get the next Pat Riley to coach Lakers

LeBron is the problem! When he wins it's all/ only because of him and when they lose it's clearly the coaching fault (HC) And has nothing to do with him that's why so many HC have been fired after a losing season Why anyone would want to run a team with LeBron on it just blows my mind! If the media didn't lick LeBron's boots and hold him accountable for throwing the HC under the bus or even get after him for being lazy on defense would they still think he's a GOAT? What a typical McAfee response. His whole stance is anyone that ever played pro should be given any tangential position they want without even going through the process of proving capabilities. Joe Mazzulla has actually worked in coaching positions and gone through the process. Redick has never held a single coaching position, ever. It's not the same as being a player or commentator. I liked Redick as a good piece on the Sixers. But he has no idea what he's about to get himself into. This will not go well.

Yeah that’s what’s confusing to me. Joe got the job in Boston because the front office was in love with what they saw him do as a COACH, not a podcaster. It’s all fun and games until you draw up a play and lebron says no like he’s famous for doing. It’s all fun and games until you’re given a bottom 10 roster and expected to have home court advantage in the playoffs. It’s all fun and games until you’re forced to make tough in game adjustments on one of the biggest stages in sports with everyone waiting to critique it when it fails.
