And a follow-up.... remember on how npc boss works, after she reseted. Once you initiate an atk, the battle begins... thats after she got mind controlled, but failed and yet it reseted her npc system into her original boss fight set-up.... You know what i mean...

Welp, I must remember you guys that they came from a MMO RPG, so their strenght is based on levels, since all of them were max lvl, their strenght is about the same so they need to outclass the other with strategy, since Shalltear is a hard counter against magic and undeads, she is the most powerfull against Ains, still, all of the guardians must be around the same strenght but have diferent strong points.

I just want to say, that Shaltear is strongest in 1vs1 fights, and Ains is not the most powerfull person in guild. It is not spoiler)

The skill, The Goal of All Life is Death is so strong that it killed Shalltear, her clone, her household, and the camera.

According to the light novel, the combination "Cry of the Banshee" und "The Goal of All LIfe is Death" simply kills all in a certain area. And "all" includes really everything, even oxygen, bacterias etc. Thats why there was nothing but a desert left. I guess, poor cameraman-sama, was the first victim (and came back as undead-cameraman for the climax :D)

Another note the black and white gauntlet mare wears(Avarice and Generosity) and the big scroll on auras back(Depiction of Nature and Society) are World items given to them by ains,also the other guardians were given too but not mention in the anime.. ains gave them world items as self-defense since world items wont work when another world item is nearby........if you remember the old lady that cast a spell on shalltear and a dragon came out her clothes?? yeah Her dress is a world item named" Downfall of Castle and Country"it enables her to like mind control any being even with absolute complete resistance...talk about OP shalltear then get mind control but since she killed the lady that supposed to gave her commands shes just there waiting for a command....

Shaltear didn't kill the lady, she killed the warrior that was trying to cover her and highly damaged the lady. But the thing is, they can't heal her, because Shaltear used skill that cursed the wound and can't be healed.

Shalltear is stronger than Momonga/Ainz in many ways. She was literally built to counter his type, as in her skills and abilities are perfect counters to his racial type and class status. Remember that she and other guardians were built to fight multiple level 100 players in the defense of Nazarick.

Shalltear is indeed a bad match up for Ainz, he is still above her though. And the Guardians/area guardians etc. are made to fulfill specific roles. Like Shalltear wearing down people over the 1st 3 floors. And they are completely different when fighting in Nazarick on their designated floors. They are way stronger there and the floors themselves rely heavily on traps and combinations of things, buffs etc. Outside they are not all that strong and can lose vs a single level 100 player that is good. Obv. in NW where level 35 is considered incredibly strong they are still insanely powerful and godlike.

Ainz is only superior because he has more battle experience, had so much prep before the fight started, psychology, not to mention pay to win cash shop items. On an equal footing, 1v1, shaltear counters him so hard she beats him 10/10.

Shalltear is a true vampire with the job class of holy Valkyrie, kind of unfair paradoxical combo, but then that’s what the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown is all about, stupid levels of power. :)

David Romig they were one of the strongest guilds ever in the game. Defeated a 1500 player invasion in just 7-8 floors. They never even got to floors 9 or 10.

Question is can shaltear even do anything to albedo??? Why is albedo be the one at ainz side anytime he goes out...... and ask albedo to protect him im just gonna assume that Albedo has a crap load decent defence than any of the guardians (shes probably the tank of the guild)

hes, albedo is the tanky guardian. her armor by itself can hold 3 hits no matter the damage inflicted upon it (each hit will destroy 1 of the armor layers in return) i don't remember about her own skills tho

although his main build is with death related spells momonga has access to 700+ spells from tier 1-10 plus all super-tier spells all divinity and active spells. only thing he can't have are the wild magic spells exclusive to the world they are transported to. btw sharknado best spell imo

While she’s strong as a duelist the fact of the matter is she does better when facing multiple enemies. She even says so while commenting why ainz can’t use any of his summon spells and has to fight her 1v1. This is also why she eventually uses her own summon skill to attack (friendly fire) and regain hp. Her job as the floor boss of the first couple floors is to slowly drain invaders of their resources to make it harder for them to continue. Potent attacks and decent resistances so she can’t get 1 shot, life steal on damage she deals, auto resurrect, etc are all factors that make her hard to eliminate quickly and the more opponents she faces the easier it is for her to lifesteal and stay topped off.

thats because he cant summon anithing that does suficient dammage she would just heal from it making any summons health packs for her its just not viable to swarm her with weak oponents because she wouldnt need resources to deal with them while summoning them would just provide shaltear with ways to heal and waste ainzs mana. and even after that you think thats bs why would the guardians suggest they just crush her as a group ? they know her abilities they are not stupid did you even read the novel or are you making this stuff up based on anime ?

@@miot22 Shalltear is actually a 1v1 specialist. She is the worst of the guardians when it comes to fighting multiple enemies. Mare is the guardian that is designed to fight multiple enemies at he same time being her spells and abilities are almost all of the AoE variety.

Kalas Hydra Huh? I have no idea what you’re replying to tho it seems addressed to me. Nothing I’ve said is made up and your own reply hasn’t contradicted anything I’ve stated either. Shaltear is a strong duelist but that is not her main role. Against someone who’s specialized for dueling in pvp she wouldn’t fare as well as she did against ainz.

The skill "The Goal of All life is Death" is an instant death spell that can penetrate even death resistance and widen magic is widdening the area it cover. it even kill all organism that is hit by that spell thats why everything will be dust around them after he cast it in the next episode. Let me do a quick explanation since the anime didn’t go into detail. The adventure party Shaltear attacked after her familiars were killed was in fact the black scripture from slane theocracy, they are similar to sunlight scripture who summoned angels but these guys are even stronger and they have a world class item on them “the downfall of country and city” if you recall that episode where an old lady was wearing this white Chinese qipao, that dress is the world class item and it binds whoever it targets to its owner’s will. Shaltear noticed right away and attacked and almost killed that old woman so the item didn’t take full effect, instead of giving black scripture control of Shaltear it just taken away Shaltear’s status as a Nazarick npc so she becomes a neutral npc that fights whoever attacks her.

They know perfectly well how powerful that item is because it was left to them by their "gods" who were also players from Yggdrasil. The reason Slane Theocracy is so powerful despite human being one of the weakest species in the new world is that past players have visited and protected them. So far we know that they left this one world class item to them and there are also "godkins" who were the children of players and probably NPC, these are basically demigods in the new world. There were other players who visited the new world like the Eight Greed Kings, they turned on each other over conquest and died, and their guild possession seems now be guarded by the Platinum Dragon Lord, one of the most powerful being in the New World.

According to Norse Mythology, Einherjar is the soul of dead warrior that died in war or battle that brought up into Valhalla. In some other fictional story, Einherjar spirits which can't manifest their own body yet, can enter a vessel (Mostly Valkyrie) until they can maintain their own physical body and walk around the earth freely. In Valkyrie's War time, Einherjar often called out from inside of Valkyrie's body to support and participate in the battle. so we can safely assume that the white Shaltear's clone is the Einherjar.

Reading the Light Novel Ainz had already maximized his fire defence, fire being a traditional weakness of undead, back in the Yggdrasil years. The robes he was wearing were to protect himself against holy attacks, which means he was taking less damage than Shaltear thought he was.

Shalltear was probably under some kind of Dominate monster spell from a world item. Regarding the name of her "clone" it's related to Norse mythology, if I remember right Einjars(sp?) are the warriors gathered by the Valkyries.(or something else with a strong connection to Valkyries)

For context: the goal of all life is death litterally kill everything, you can see that no plane survived and even turn to dust. The atmosphere also become so dry it is unable for living being come into the dessert

Ainz is a RPer and was acting through out the fight, there were more baits than just the mine spell bluff. Undead divine weakness can be overridden by item or skills. Shalltear is a prime example of this and was built by power gamer. Vampire's immunity + Paladin/Valkyrie's resistance to make up undead's weakness and cleric for spells/buff/protection.

also for the guy with glasses is Demiurge and he is one sadistic guy. Skinning then healing the skinning again his "Happy Farm of bi-pedal sheep" which is a farm of suitable humans for his scrolls. How he kills is only after he tortures them until he gets no more pleasure out of their pain. When the humans go against him they lose .... until Ainz as Momon goes to him and finds out why Demiurge went to a human city so close. He finds out they play fight Demiurge "loses" then leaves without a cut on him. After that he goes back and tries to find a better way to use humans as they are his guinea pigs. If you want to know the best masochist in Overlord that is Shalltear while the sadist is Demiurge. The Sadist Demiurge gets to act on his whims more so than Shalltear does on hers as she only wants to submit to those more powerful than she is and that is a very little amount of people in that world. Mainly only Ainz and maybe Demiurge but Demiurge has to much fun playing with his human guinea pigs. Torturing them some times to death to only revive them to be tortured for his experiments on them still and he wants them to be in pain. Out of the NPCs made by the guild Shalltear is one of the nicer ones but still messed up in the head. None of them are right in the head due to how their backstories were written. With that siad Shalltear is loyal to the guild and thus to Ainz. They kinda cut out what was going on in her head in the anime but it was alot of questioning herself for why she was fighting her lord and master Ainz.

One thing you have to remember is max level is 100. Ainz and all of the floor guardians, i.e. Shalltear, Aura and Mare, Albedo, all of them are level 100. So TECHNICALLY they are at the same power level. The main difference being builds and classes. It's one of the reasons why Ainz is so set on keeping up the appearance of an all knowing, infallible supreme being. If even one of them rebels against him it'll take an arm and a leg just to suppress them.

All the guardians were given the best equipment the guild was able to get for the classes and abilities they were created with. In most cases those are god-tier equipment or equivalent. As for who would win between Shalltear and Albedo, the thing is Albedo is designed to be a tank (take damage and buy time) while Shalltear is designed to be well-rounded and powerful in order to prevent most invaders from going any further than the 3rd floor. The fact that Shalltear can use holy attacks due to her Holy Valkyrie class was a decision based on the idea that players would stock up on things like Protection from Negative Energy for fighting against an "evil monster PVP guild" and then get hit hard by the Holy element which they aren't prepared to face. While it was never mentioned, I'm willing to bet that Demons in Yggdrasil had a weakness to the Holy element so Albedo, who is a Succubus Demon, would be in a similarly bad spot going up against Shalltear.

True fact the Guardians are all designed to counter a specific other. Like rock, paper, scissors. But Lord Ainz re fusses to have them fight one another. They are like his kids.

Lady Kaire who used the world item on Shalltear was heavily injured by Shalltear while using the item so it was a incomplete mind control.

The Goal of All Life is Death: This special skill is one of Ainz's most powerful abilities and comes from the maximum level (5) in Eclipse. Eclipse is one of the hardest classes to get because it requires an Overlord with spells specialized in necromancy and instant death type magic. The Eclipse class lets the user become a true lord of death, a life-consuming Eclipse. It strengthens the instant death effect of magic and skills to the point of bypassing any immunity or resistance and killing their targets after a certain amount of time had passed. Ainz used this special skill with '(Widen) Cry of the Banshee,' and it killed everything in 100 meters. The cooldown of this special skill is 100 hours duration. It's not possible to resist death spells enhanced by this special skill unless one uses a resurrection effect on themselves within 12 seconds. This special skill is considered to be the trump card of the Eclipse-class.

Albedo the leading floor guardians which is everyone is under her that includes shaltear, but she stated that pandoras actor is greater by strategy and skills than herself aside that ainz created him.... moving on, shaltear has crazy skill sets given from her creator, which may have some pros and cons againts the other floor guardians including albedo... to sum it up, all guardians have unique set of skills that may surpass and/or subdued one another.... but, the real fact thats why neither of the floor guardians was ordered to battle against shaltear because that ainz doesnt want to see their own creations killing one another knowing there are pros and cons according to skills... plus, each floor gurdians havent known each others skills sets which may lead to their fall, ainz thought of that too.... Thats why he fought shaltear alone for only he knew all of their streanghts and weaknesses plus the secrets on each guardians, its a cheat way for being a creator after all....

Albedo said PA rivals them(the guardians) in power and intellect not that he is greater, as he is an area guardian. I think there are only 2 area guardians that are lvl 100, PA and Aureole.

fun fact, Albedo is just a tank her armor is only focused on durability over abilities to combo with an ability to redirect any one attack to the armor three times I think she got a world item though, not so sure about that one though

Actually, it's not that he can't be protected against holy. It's that in order to get a proper defense against one of the two elements that are his weakness (fire and holy), a lot of specialized equipment is needed. In other words, it's only possible to properly defend against one of those elements at most.

Ainz Choose to maximize the protection of one of the aspect he is weak against hence making him more susceptible to his other weakness. Shalltear is consider one of the top 3 powerful npc in the guild and she is meant to fight multiple lvl 100 players at once.

You have to remember that Shalltear was a created NPC. That means she has a build type format that allows her to be strong against magic casters and nercomancers, both of which are Ainz's speciality. Its not the she is as strong as Ainz, its that Shalltear has resistance or nullification to most of Ainz's attacks. Albedo can definitely beat her but the gaurdians were designed to support eachother and provide a challenge to any who would enter Nazarick, so the guardians builds are based on being perfect counters to multiple player builds, which is why Nazarick was known as the most powerful guild because no one could beat all the max level gaurdians.

Well, technically it doesn't insta kill everyone, it has to be combined with a death spell, because the skill just strips all resistance to the spell and also makes them fail their save, in DnD terms. So it's actually even more technical to use, because he has to time it just right. That is why he used "Cry of the banshee" alongside it.

You mean a Vampire using holy elemental attacks in itself doesn't blow your mind?

Kimichi is basically right about the twins. Aura, while not strong in a one on one, is a tremendous trainer and is one of the strongest in Nazarick when surrounded by her creatures. Mare is however strong in a one on one, being said to equal Albedo in strength. Never underestimate a trap and a tomboy

Also, the twins would be like nightmare to fight in a wilderness environment. With Aura being a beast tamer and Mare controlling nature? That's pretty much a no-go. I wouldn't be brave enough to try that.

Everyone keeps forgetting that Shalltear is a raid boss, a massive life steal dps, and you have to beat her twice.

Albedo couldn’t solo shaltear, however she could take for a party set up to kill shaltear as her defense is the highest.

Albedo focuses on defence so a fight between shaltear and albedo might not end in shaltears win since albedo is so tanky. It might just end in a draw.

Albedo is the more tankish of the Guardians. If anything, she might be able to take Shalltear's attacks for some time and her physical attack power is pretty good too if you go by the novels. Though I would like to see those two actually fight to see the result.

Albedo is not "only" more tankish, she has the highest defense in all of Nazarick and she is build as a tank with her armor being specialised for tanking (it has some special skill, but i forgot what it was).

In a 1v1 Shalltear could still beat Albedo though.

If I am correct, in the novel, it says it would take at least 3 other Guardians to match up to Shalltears strength and stats. And again I believe it said it would be Albedo, Cocytus, and Demi, in order to at least beat her, and chances are those three would end up either dead by the end, or severely hurt. Also she doesn't have an item that brought her back to life (yes she did die) it was actually a skill if I am correct. And also as for the leech form, that was actually her other skill known as "Blood lust" where if she kills someone she gets stronger and faster and also heals, I believe. And no these are not spoilers, just info left out of the anime.

Shaltear have the best stats with gargantula, she is the best on 1v1, mare on the other hand is the best on guild war... all the guardians are unique with their roles...

The Nazarick Floor Guardians were all created with the intention of them being raid bosses. They are intended to be able to take on as many invaders as possible, constantly whittling down their defenses, skills and items so that they either die, or are too weak to keep fighting and get offed inside Nazarick. Peroroncino was an expert min-maxer. The Goal Of All Life Is Death is a super exclusive skill that only an Overlord who is truly dedicated to desth magic can obtain through the rare *Eclipse* class. It allows Ainz to remove any defense toward instant death. And once combined with a death skill, everything dies. _Everything,_ whether living, dead, or even the air and the earth. However a skill this OP can only be used once every 100 hours. Albedo is a tank type warrior. It would take a very long time to deplete her HP through her massive defenses, but Shalltear would ultimately win. Albedo is stronger in melee combat, though.

THIS IS NOT A SPOILER (NO JOKE) OVERLORD is likely based on table-top RPG and most of the time in such game, a robe (any robe really) can be used to conceal the armor that it cover so.....

This will not be explained in the anime so I will write in the commentary. This old priestess who was hidden by the knights probably wanted to cast some powerful mind control spell. Perhaps this is a skill from the category of these innate abilities of people in this world. But while casting this "spell," Shaltear wounded her / killed her. Control over her was taken over, but he had no one to give her orders. The warriors retreated. And Shaltear stayed.

It was not a skill but a world item called "Downfall of castle and country" which was her dress.

wrong way round shalltear is an insane healing tank albedo is a glass cannon who is equal to the combined power of all the guardians. if you payed attention ains said in the first episode shes the strongest guardian in nazarick, her physical power rivals that of a supreme being even in the anime.

@@oliversaunders2967 well the glass cannon is cocytus and all the guardian can give a good fight if not beat the supreme being in new world, shalltear build is more focusing in pvp that's why she has that lifesteal stuff and resurrection item because she meant to be hold and dropping intruder of nazarick health, that's why shalltear given to guard 1st-3rd floor, meanwhile albedo is more a tank than a glass cannon and she is like a last boss in the nazarick because of how tanky she is.... and maybe she is the strongest "guardian"(CMIW) , I not wanna spoiling anything but there is someone in nazarick who consider as the strongest entity of Nazarick

Tude Belawa I don't want to sound mean but have you read any manga or even read any Anime because all that is wrong cocytus has complete physical immunity stronger than that of ainz so he is definitely not a glass cannon haha albedo is not a tank I don't want to spoil for. You in case your Anime only but you will see how strong both albedo and cocytus are albedo has insane damage dealing capabilities she's not a hp type she's just very strong meaning she's only tanky to people weaker than her(which is most people lol).

Shalltear was built to be like a Raid Boss that you face in MMORPGs. She is the First Guardian Boss that other players will face when they go invade and try to conquer the Tomb of Nazarick. And Momonga just beat her ALONE. He solo'ed and beat a Raid Boss ALONE. Let that sink in.

Albedo is only focused on defence since she has the class of Shield Lord Black Guard Guardian Unholy Knight Dark Knight Which all focuses on defence while shalltear was made to be strong againts 1 v 1 battles because her weapon,build,equipment and fighting style focuses on 1 v 1 battles

And shalltear is also a Faith Caster (like priest and stuff) so she is super strong againts undead even tho she herself is one So ainz was in a disadvantage when fighting her since he is an undead magic caster fighting a faith caster that can also be a warrior and fight up close

Well she isn't the strongest overall, but she is definitely hardest enemy to deal with for Ainz since she heavily counters him. There is no way that Ainz would have won without prep time and solid strategy. Especially since his build isn't exactly meta, he made it mainly for roleplay purposes.

Actually, they are the strongest in Nazaric. There's no one better between guardians. Shaltear is better than rubedo because she's a tank (damage insuficient, and shaltear can just heal with her high HP) but he can't win against Cocytus who is the best attacker. They all have weakness and strength.

Even if that wasn't ainz speciality he was one of the greatest pvp players on the game, and also remember he is a necromancer ! His best skills are summons, he beat her without using his main spells. Also the floor guardians are raid boss, they can takedown multiple maxlvl players and shalltear is mostly a counter to ainz.

He was not one of the greatest pvp players, even with prep. he had 50/50 chances for win in a pvp, without prep his chances were near 0

Go for a team of 2 magic casters :D Blast everything away E-E-EXPLOSION

Shalltear is a stronger duelist than Ainz. He is a strong magic caster, but he functions better in a group and against multiple smaller targets. She on the other hand is a lvl 100 fighter that is meant to take on players 1v1.

He does get that a mage is a back line character ... right? so for him to be a mage his girl will have to be a tank or a DPS in a MMO

I think Shalltear was built for 1v1 specifically, to fight players. She has both holy and undead powers. While the other guardians are more team-support oriented not meant for 1 v 1 duels, Albedo wanted to send all the guardians against Shalltear and beat her with numbers.

Awww, you didn't do 12 and 13 together. They really needed to be done together. Technically I suppose the last 3 episodes all should be together. Guess I'll just wait for the next one then with anticipation :D

All of the guardians are strong as shit, some are stronger than the actual guild members. Demiurge for example is far more intelligent than Ainz, the strategist for the guild. And it isn’t really that Shaltear is stronger than albedo (she is, but there’s more), each guardian has different stats. Shaltear has extremely high damage, she even has life steal and multiple lives. Albedo is extremely tanky and has tons of health. Cocytus is a glass cannon of sorts, Mare has unparalleled Attack power and destructive capabilities, etc etc. so each guardian is different. And it isn’t just that Ainz isn’t strong enough, he’s also fighting without his usual equipment and without any strong items or weapons in general. So he’s fighting with a handicap already, but in general he would lose a 1v1 head to head all out brawl. He’s a mage after all.

Man you guys freak out a lot! :D Oh and you have yet to see how powerful is Albedo! You would freak out even more.

Shalltear is the stronge NPC in nazarcik if battle 1vs1 Mare is under shalltear the best spell caster Albedo x cocytus x sebas. Them same stornge, them like scissor rock paper. Aura not stronge but she summon skill is awsome, if in big war she cant stop. Demigure he not good in fighting, but he the best comender in nazarich.

ill give you some back story from the LN. As far as power levels went the Floor Guardians are all the same level but Shaltear is the strongest overall because of her class combos (shes also a huge pervert because thats how Pereroncino made her....because so was he lol). As far as melee fighters go Albedo is a tank, Cocytus is pure DPS and Sebas (the butler) is an all rounder. So as far as their strength level goes its a bit rock paper scissors Cocytus>Sebas>Albedo>Cocytus

The spell he used killed everything in the area even trees and rocks so there's so much sand because of that

its never explained in the anime ... Group of people Shaltear met used World item on Shaltear , but Before it takes over her she realized the situation she is in and killed or injured the person who used the item through the tank guy lol... She is a beast ..
