SHALLOW THE GOLF CLUB

Спорт

In this video I will be talking about certain movements of the body that can promote the shaft of the club to shallow in the downswing. I will also be covering some important positions in the downswing that you must look for in order to gauge if you are shallowing the club enough.

    I've watched many many videos of yours and other instructors that I like. This is the best overall video that I have ever watched. Especially when you have basics of knowing the weight shift, backswing and downswing. This just puts the downswing all together. Great video. Thank you

    Wow. The calm break down into simple, well explained positions and variations is so helpful. Best explanation out there. Please keep making these videos!

    This and the Depth video are some of the best (if not the best) golf videos out there. Clear, concise, yet so descriptive. Wish you were in the SF Bay Area!

    I am definitely the early rotation guy. Thank you for showing both the common errors and fixes for sequencing and positioning.

    Jonathan and Tom Seguto are my 2 favorite online instructors. They both present great information but in completely different teaching styles. It's a great combination.

    Now I know why I'm so steep on my downswing. I need to slow down the shoulder rotation.

  • @Rich-in6ds
    @Rich-in6ds Жыл бұрын

    An addition about "rotation" - there are two kinds which people confuse. There's the rotation of the spine/core and the rotation of your shoulders/chest/pelvis independently around the spine. Limiting the amount by which your spine rotates and focusing more on pivoting those body parts around it, MASSIVELY helps with this issue. When you turn your spine to target you encourage OTT and early extension moves.

    thanks for the video! if you swing in to out does that automatically mean you shallow the club? or in other words, can you still swing steep and in-to-out?

    Question…… The Rotation description at 7:06 - very helpful to realize this can an cause out/in swing path. Rotation sequence question - I’m trying to start the hips rotating first and then torso rotation before the shoulders rotate thus keeping the hands in the shallow position at the start of the club’s downswing. Is this even possible/desired? I’m thinking this hip first rotation builds more centrifugal force for the twisting spine to whip the the shoulder and then shoulders to whip the club head, maximizing lag throughout the body. (Torso lags hips, shoulders lag torso, hands lag club head). If this makes any sense, I’d really appreciate you thoughts this rotation sequence.

    before you start rotation you must ensure that the majority of your weight is NOT on the trail side. If you add rotation before the weight moves to the lead side then you will more likely throw the hands and club outside of your hands and cause a more over the top downswing.

    if you are to flex your lead wrist, do you have to implement a weaker grip so it won't go too much left?

  • @JKMGolf

    A weaker grip will just have the face more open overall throughout the backswing and downswing so the lead wrist flex won’t have as much of an effect on club face closing more.

    There is something special happening in Asia, how is that continent putting out so many world class female golfers in such a short time span? I think the best instructors that know the most about the golf swing and developing players from scratch might be Asian coaches. To me it's obvious.

    I found the best way to shallow the club is to just be athletic. There isn’t a single drill out there that’s going to help you shallow the club unless you’re athletic. Go become athletic. Then when you come back, you don’t need a drill. Simple.
