Bigeye Ocean Perch, Helicolenus barathri. Not part of the same family as scorpionfishes, but they're in the order Scorpaeniformes, which is a diverse order that includes Scorpionfishes, Flatheads, Sea Robins, Stonefishes and my personal favourite the Blobfishes! Great vid Sammy!

Beautiful Bluemouth, or Black Bellied Rosefish... we get them here in Ireland up to about 40cm...

I always get a kick out of how excited you guys get catching baby bluefish. I guess I'm spoiled because I grew up catching tons of 8 to 12 pounders in the surf with the occasional 15 pounder mixed in. Still your enthusiasm is contagious!

@SammyHitzkeFishing I get just as excited about 30cm+ Whiting as I d o chasing mackerel.

You guys make it look so easy, I am fishing the newcastle area land based, have spent hundreds of dollars in gear and taken on board all your information but still have not come up with a fish. With a very angry wife with the amount of money spent and no outcome. Not sure whether i should give up and sell everything.

Should tell wilson to make their oh jigging rods with spiral wrapped guides instead of traditional. They would sell alot more to compete with the other big brands. Be good to have a good range of aussie made rods.

Did you fish last weekend? Looks like there wasn't much current at all? I was deep jigging off south west rocks last weekend, similar thing no current but random marlin appearing in close on sauri schools

You aren’t required to wear a vests while fishing the surf mate. Only for crossing designated coastal bars 👍

I just thought given the potential danger of fishing the surf line and your safety in some of your other vids that you would have at least worn some inflatables. Just as a safety message. All good, no intention of being a smart arse. A lot of people with less skills than you and Shaun could try this and end up coming undone. No ill intentions in flagging this.

Bloody marine piranhas only good for bait top reef bait beat any lure or jig on the reef.
