Boxer Shakur Stevenson aims to become a triple champion as he faces Edwin De Los Santos Thursday November 16th in the vacant WBC Lightweight title bout. With an impressive 20-0 record and 10 KOs, Shakur is a proven champion, winning a WBO featherweight title, WBO junior lightweight and the WBC 130 pound title and looks to add to his next belt in a Thursday Night Las Vegas bout on ESPN.
Although young in age, Shakur's story starts long ago as he represented USA boxing in the Olympics and felt his first heartbreak as an athlete, a feeling he carries with him today to guide his approach to the sport he loves. He opens up to Ryan, Channing and Fred on how that experience shaped him and something he considers the biggest pivot in his life because it taught him what he never wanted to experience again. Extremely confident and outspoken, Shakur has chosen to allow his work in the ring to do the talking for him and lives by a motto of never backing down from anyone.
Being mentored by some of the sport's greatest to fight, Andre Ward, Bud Crawford and Floyd Mayweather...Shakur has his sights set on becoming a legend and enshrined in boxing history as one of the best to ever do it. Understanding and prioritizing that training is all year round and being disciplined all the time, not just fight time, is one major takeaway Shakur has modeled his career after from his mentors. Having a marketing component is also his edge as he continues to build his super star status in the sport, recently signing a mega deal with Adidas, amassing a large social media following and working with entertainment A-listers Drake and managed by J Prince.
His upcoming championship fight is a defining one, but it's also necessary for Shakur to dominate his opponent in order to attract the bigger name fights of Gervontaa Davis and Devin Haney's of the sport, Shakur is not shy on speaking up that he is ready for these mega fights and believes he is the best fighter in the sport.

This young man seems thoughtful and real, he isnt afraid to be himself. Too often young men in the sports world are afraid to truly show their personality. He isnt afraid to speak on his negative moments as well as his positive moments. Hope to see more young men who aren't afraid to be themselves and media who isnt there to judge them.

I wish we would stop saying these fighters don’t want smoke and don’t run from anybody. If you were able to just take a peak behind the curtain and see exactly how things are approached, it would really open a lot of eyes. My family has been blessed enough to be able to be a part of some of these fighters journeys and the things that is said in front of a camera is night and day difference than what is said behind closed doors. I love SS and alot of these young fighters, but *most* of them do not really want to fight each other. Someone has to lose, and no matter what people say, a loss is damaging to a career, especially when the mystique is gone and you can no longer say no one can beat you. Absolutely hate that’s the way it is, but that’s what it expressed behind closed doors and unless the money is astronomical, these fights have a small chance of happening.

He didn't say no. He enforced his mandatory to put the pay share in their hands, and Dev went up to 140. Ngl Dev shouldn't gave been fighting at 135 regardless but he was bluffing with tht offer then didn't want to fight because he didn't want to see what the sanctioning bodies ruling was gonna be. He could've gotten 60/40 or 75/25 but he didn't wanna see Shakur regardless so he went to fight Regis. That is facts
