The guy you saw towards the end of the performance joining Shakira at the chorus is Steven Tyler the lead singer of the famous Rock band Aerosmith! That night Shakira and other artists were paying tribute to them by playing their greatest hits, so this is not Shakira's song, but she gave it her own spin in a brilliant way! The cool thing is that the harmonica isn't present in the original song, but Steven Tyler does play it in other songs, so that gave Shakira some big extra points on representing the legendary Aerosmith. "She told me she was visiting from Colombia and that she was just doing this for her own enlightenment and enjoyment," Cleve said. "She looked like just an ordinary student. She wasn't flamboyant ... she didn't act like a big celebrity or anything." Shakira, who sat near the front in the third row of the lecture hall, would often discuss the course material with him after class. "I was really impressed with how intelligent she was," said Cleve. She has given speeches at Harvard and Oxford. Also, Obama appointed Shakira to the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. Among the more than 420 awards she has won, not counting nominations, she has received a UN medal, an award for her humanitarian contribution from the World Economic Forum and she is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. He has created more than one charity foundation, the first one he started was when he was 18 years old and earned money from his first successful album. One of the schools that she built was named the best school in Colombia, her country.

So, yes, Shakira is what you would call a "Renaissance woman". She writes with meaning, she sings well whatever style she chooses, she is an accomplished dancer, she plays multiple instruments, she is a polyglot, and yes, she also acts but has not done so for a very long time. I don't know if you guys are aware that she is also a humanitarian, a philanthropist: Good Will Ambassador for Unicef (she has made two fund-raising world tours for them), world-renown children´s right advocate (check out her speeches in front of world leaders in forums like the United nations, WISE, World Economic Forum, White House, etc. ). She set up the Barefoot Foundation when she was 17, to help impoverished children of Colombia have shelter, nutrition and education. Her schools have helped more than 23 thousand children and 67 thousand young adults and adults in Colombia. Sum that up with her MENSA rating and pow, there you go, you got yourselves a genius in the whole meaning of the word. I heard her say in a recent interview that her music is the vehicle for her life calling, which is to help children. Hats off to the lady!

This performance took place in early 2000s, by the time Shakira was breaking bounderies with her successful crossover to the Anglo market, in her Laundry Service era. After being a Shakira fan for two years I stumbled on this video. Back story grew up a big Aerosmith fan started in 1978 7 th grade. In 2004 MTV had already stopped playing music videos so I had no idea about this award show for Aerosmith. ( at this point it’s like Jerry Springer giving out music awards they really has no business doing so anymore) Shakira is amazing extremely smart beautiful multi talented self taught.
