Shakatak are an English jazz-funk band, founded in 1980.
They scored a number of chart entries, including two Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart, "Night Birds" (1982) and "Down on the Street" (1984), plus a further 12 entries in the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles.
The original line up is:
Jill Saward (vocal, percussion, flute)
Bill Sharpe (keyboards)
Roger Odell (drums)
George Anderson (bass)
Keith Winter (guitar)
The group is still active and popular throughout the world, particularly in Japan and the Far East, and generally produce a new album every two years on JVC Records.

The fact that this is all mimed doesn't betray what skilled performers they all are. I love that about Shakatak, a pop-fashioned trojan horse for jazz.

this music was in GTA 3
In '86, On the Rock(Okinawa, Japan) and one of the first VHS tape I saw was Shakatak Live In Japan. Been a huge fan sinced.

I saw them playing live Nov 26th 2022 at 10 Dean Street Soho London. They were ... Superb.
I love Shak but they were trying to be something they weren't here.
