Well at the beginning of her career she appeared in "Crackerjack" series. You can see her for instance in this clip with Limahl: • Limahl - Only for Love...

Apologies for poor sound quality - beauty of old VHS conversion. I added the subtitles, so that should be helpful enough.

Jeez! Thanks for posting! This was before Downtown Julie Brown hit the USA in 1987 on Club MTV! Managed to not come across Shakatak...ever. Easy listening jazz was never my jam (though now I might listen if doing housework or wanting background chill music for doing whatever). Their song Easier Said Than Done is kinda funky. City Rhythm would not have motivated me to buy the single or lp. Referencing Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder...loved those guys but this band...not so much. Just sayin'. Nick is always so thoughtful and fun to listen to. Researched Milton Keynes and see it's an area not far from Kajagoogoo's origin location of Leighton Buzzard (not so many cottage plants...how can I not love this guy). And the Barbican in London where their video was shot still exists. Very cute seeing Nick making sure he returned the money he was "paid" for complimenting Shakatak. While I wasn't a fan of easy listening jazz, I did like some dance/club/disco music back in the day (though I also haunted rock clubs where "Disco Sucks" was the battle cry) and would have liked Kaja back then (though never heard Turn Your Back on Me in any dance clubs I went to), and like them now. This tune would have gotten me on the dance floor. My only complaint is that I don't think Nick ever hit the proper note on "no" in the line "did NObody ever tell you that you/not to"...he's always a bit flat (he was sharp in other spots but this was the only one that bothered me). If I was the producer, I think I would have poked him with something till he got that one in the right place (I'm sure he could have hit it spot on). Since it was the same bloke that did both videos, he did a MUCH better job with Kaja's for whatever reason (band's input, director's vision?). Anyhoo, another lovely interview with Nick (who handled the query on religion with a deft touch) and Steve, fun to see the video again, and great seeing Ms. Brown (always like her...such a cutie pie). ❤☮🌎

Good insight. On Nick not hitting those notes, that was deliberate. You’d have noticed that many of their songs weren’t sang in the faux American accent, they wanted to maintain the Britishness about them, hence the flatter vowels.

@@woody5831 not really. He doesn’t I can assure you. The issue was between Limahl and the manager Paul Ryan. However upon the rather short rebanding the same issues rose their ugly head again, and this time PR wasn’t involved, just Limahl. Paul Ryan passed away a few years ago.
