Lyrics: (some of them!! There are quite a lot)
Shady Grove, my little love
Shady Grove I say
Shady Grove, my little love
I'm bound to go away
Cheeks as red a a blooming rose
And eyes are the prettiest brown
She's the darling of my heart
Sweetest girl in town
A kiss from pretty little Shady Grove
Is sweet as brandy wine
And there ain't no girl in this whole world
That's prettier than mine
I wish I was in baltimore
sitting in a big arm chair
One arm around my whiskey keg
and the other around my dear

I just found your videos and love this style - I feel like I could just as easily add this to a playlist to listen to as use it as a learning tool.

Thank you for the tune, as a banjo newbie I appreciate the different banjo tunings but I have not found a resource , book etc. that tells what tuning is most popular for a given song

Wonderful work, very inspiring! What are you using on your middle finger to pluck the strings? A reversed fingerpick?

Wonderful playing and that sawmill tuning really works for that tune. What make and model banjo are you playing, Hilary?

I don't have many banjos-so you will often see me playing this one. I wish I had more! This one is a Bart Reiter open back.

Thanks so much for the video! It's nice to see clearly what's happening with both hands, and at slowed down tempos. I do wonder though, why the drop thumb? I've been playing it with the same left hand fingering, but keeping the thumb on the 5th string, and it flows much better (for me).

I started playing this and Rain and Snow in open G minor tuning capoed up to A minor. . It seemed pretty natural to do it that way. In sawmill are you playing a Gsus4 instead of G minor?
