Peter, I think its great that you highlight a losing trade (which can hurt to talk about). It's a great learning opportunity so your humility is much appreciated. Every trader has losing trades. Good traders make every effort to learn from them so thank you for sharing your thought process.

I did not take that trade at the time of the alert, but I heard your commentary in the options advisory. I prefer futures trading, and I actually think you talk more about futures in the room than you realize, which is why I am there. I may have to consider checking out the new futures room, although I wouldn't want to miss your morning discussions in the options advisory.

I follow Peter since covid19 years ago and I amaze he is not just experienced trader but honest one and the last one is hard to find

Thanks Peter. I lost quite a bit the past few days on micro Nasdaq (I'm a directional trader). Next time I'll hold off on these announcement events and wait for price to play out more.

That hourly candle looks like a classic stop run. Given the long wick, clearly (in retrospect) long-term players didn't want price to go down. Very good point on the psychological factor(s) influencing the management of the trade. Great learning lesson.

This is actually called ‘look below and failed’ by many professional traders. That’s why you want confirmation of the lows being broken by a LH in a smaller time frame (eg 5 minutes). Of course I made such mistakes and it’s easier to comment after the fact. We actually learn a lot more from failed trades than from perfect working trades as many videos of SMB and it makes me crazy. Really destroy beginners in this profession. 😊. Thanks for sharing ❤

I am very familiar with "look below and fail", but it's more of a term used for a more defined balance area. I didn't see this as such but that's what makes a market.

When you showed the Daily charts of the SPX and NDX I saw huge Bear flags.

For your losing trade, where you shorted, 5036 happens to be the VAL of the 3 weeks Volume Profile. And that 3 weeks VAL was tested twice tested.

Thank you for your great analysis and commentary. I am confused though regarding you comment that XLE is "bullish". I know that it HAS been bullish, but this week I see that price is below the 20dSMA and is now sitting on the 50dSMA, the 8dEMA just fell below the 21dEMA, and it is in a down draft while SPY and QQQ are dramatically rising. So I don't see any reason for a bullish reversal at this time, and lots of reasons for a continuation of the down draft. But like you said, maybe it is just a minor pullback in the context of a very strong uptrend. But forgive for being skeptical until I see some sign of a reversal.

Peter, why don't you show 50 DMA? Per my observation indices were knocking on that Friday but couldn't go through and it's going to be a key resistance area that will set stage for a downward move.

That damn low got me very puzzled. Fortunately, I kept stops tight and came back to my senses pretty fast. Tons of shorts trapped and getting squeezed... Green week though but very puzzling.

Peter, I've always appreciated your analysis. Although I still think 4800 SPX is still in play for the next week or so. We are right at the 5130/5147 area, which is ripe for a turnaround, and the Vix bottomed out. But with the FED and their fraud lies, and the breakout fake outs, who really knows eh :)

Never thought i would actually, possibly teach you something (2 somethings actually) but here goes: 1) Always wait for a 2nd day for confirmation, and 2) Wait for candle closes. As soon as you said in the prior video, and I'm paraphrasing, "as soon as we get 1 close above the trendline, I'm going long" i was like oh no.

I agree. In my way of thinking, the backtest needs to hold. Sometimes price will never backtest, and it just keeps going, but that is the price you pay to wait for a better risk/return entry on a "breakout". But I guess that really is more of a personal risk/return preference, no right or wrong, per se.

You buy things and you sell them for more than you paid. You also sell things and then buy them back for less than you received.
