"This is the classic version of Miyamoto Musashi.
Miyamoto Musashi is arguably the most famous sword master in Japanese history, and we have restored a replica of him, featuring the legendary double-ring iron tsuba. The Musashi Katana sword of Shadow Dancer is made of vermilion with glossy saya, we use high-quality paint, he has very high hardness and is not easy to wear, and the tsuka-ito is made of cotton imported from Japan, which contains Hishigami. The katana blades are hand forged from 1095 high carbon steel and tempered at the edges to create a unique edge pattern. The edge hardness is as high as HRC60, and the back hardness is HRC40."

    For $450.00 they sent me a badly marred blade full of ripples. Ito wrap was extremely loose with Hishigami paper hanging out. The fittings looked nice. Saya rattles like a baby's toy. Fittings looked nice. You got a GREAT DEAL.

    @StudioGDT They ended up giving me a very hard time, major attitude and a partial refund. The blame game was uncalled for as well. Yes. You could say I'm still sore about it. So sore in fact that I won't do business with China anymore. I'm sticking with American distributors only. Have not had any trouble since.

    I know…I had to verify they were brass and they were indeed. It was also nice to not have the brass shitodome drop out of the kurigata. The tsuka is just…really really nice.

    @@StudioGDT Nice. Yeah the tsuka looks amazing for an entry-level. Some styles of sageo from Japan are too wide to fit the standard Longquan kurigata-shitodome, though. I always remove them, but in this case it makes a nice theme to have them.

    Great video, really like this one. I personally don't care for a red saya that much, not bright red. What's the tsuka length on that,and the p.o.b.

  • @StudioGDT

    @StudioGDT

    17 күн бұрын

    So here’s the thing! The red is absolutely impossible to capture…in my video it almost looks red-orange. Indoors I would absolutely call it maroon. It’s a conundrum. I actually wanted it red-orange and was shocked how dark it was when I took it out of the box. From fuchi to end of Kashira you are looking at exactly 10.3 inches. This would excel at one handed Niten-Ryu usage

    The sword was really interesting to me…the actual blade itself was nothing really special at that price point…BUT…at that price point I haven’t seen: traditional mekugi point count, traditional with saya, such clean tsuka work with Japanese cotton and hishigami…so those things considered at the price point and the fact it’s supposed to be a beater, I think it’s a great deal.

    Thank you for the feedback. It’s not the tightest I’ve felt, but at the price point definitely the best geometry. A tighter sword I have has geometry all over the place!

  • @Kale_Kale

    @Kale_Kale

    @@StudioGDT Yea, for the price, i can't imagine many swords that can compete with it. If only the polish is slightly better to make the hamon more visible, but that would drive the price up... If this sword was $350 and had a tameshigiri style polish or a kesho polish, then it would be perfect imo. As it stands, I think this is a great choice for someone who is used to japanese iaito tsukas to use as a dojo shinken not caring about the polish too much.
