If you’ve watched their Japanese music video “Lights” there’s a shot with 6 members (excl. Yoongi) and they are laying down together. Yoongi not being in that shot implies that he is the SHADOW to the other 6’s light!

Dude as soon as I watched the MV I was like 'damn I can't wait to hear Ash's opinion on it' when I tell you I CLICKED lol EDIT: also the red thing at the beginning is a reference to an installation of artist Anish Kapoor in which a red bricks tries to get pass a door that's too small for it. So it leaves part of itself on the door/doorpost. That symbolizes loosing yourself in difficult times

1) The first seconds of this track are a sample of Intro: O!RUL8,2? just like Persona did with Intro: Skool Luv Affair. 2) At the end of Intro: O!RUL8,2? Namjoon says "What is your Dream?" and Yoongi replies to that question at the beginning "I wanna be etc...". 3) It is called "Interlude: Shadow" and not "Intro" because,,,, do you remember that MOTS: Persona ends with Dionysus and not with an Outro like they usually do? And if you think about it, Dionysus and Shadow have the same "aggressiveness" in the vocal delivery and in the production, even tho not being the same genre, so the transition to the Interlude is more seemless.

I agree with your theories!!! I predict Hoseok will do the Outro: Ego?? Idk but lets manifest together because that would be dope asf. Yoongi is my bias and I couldn’t be happier that he’s exploring this side of himself more & is willing to share it with us. Huge props to him for being so vulnerable.

someone predicted that it might be either hobi or actually jungkook on the next trailer (EGO will be the second trailer i believe, based on the map of 7) seeing as junkook and suga were connected in the LY era. Plus in fake love Jungkook is running in a hallway and some believe that he was running at the same time as Yoongi in this video because there's a lot of connections to fake love in this video (ex: the shadow's banging on hobi's door as he tries to keep them out)

I agree w/ your second point, it seems like they're expressing their new perspectives on some past subjects and themes. Like Save Me/I'm Fine; Boy In Luv/Boy With Luv... and same with this interlude. Yoongi has always been ambitious, but now that he achieved his dreams, he kind has to learn how to deal with the downsides of the job too. It sounds like a sad song, but to me it also feels like he finally accepts his reality. He just needed to rant about it for a while. 😂 Can't wait for the album and AGUSTD2. 😍

SO THE RED DOOR: It was confusing as hell for me too. I read on insta (I think it was on godjinie’s page) that the red stuff around the door is supposed to be wax. There actually is a whole block of it and it tries to fit through the door, but it is too big. Therefore the block is skinning itself while squeezing through the door. The meaning behind it could be that every time bts achieve something big and another door opens up for them, they lose a part of themselves... I think it is an artwork by the Indian artist Anish Kapoor. I‘m still mindblown by this 👀

The fact that this is my first comeback. Min Yoongi is my bias. I like dark themes. Its visuals are a hybrid of I NEED YOU and FAKE LOVE which was my dream and they are just doing this in my first comeback. And they are dropping the album just before my exams. I am done. I am gonna ruin my exams for sure.

i interpreted it as the part where the beat switches is actually his shadow and it gives me chills how adamant and cold it sounds while saying "you are me, i am you" "can't break me off, whatever you do" and "you'll be at ease when you admit it" ...

The scene with him and the phones and everyone pointing them at him on the stage but not noticing him in the crowd, is like about how the media and people are so focused on Suga and August D they're not paying attention to Yoongi. So Yoongi is like the shadow to himself that people people aren't paying attention to. I'm not okay. That's just kinda my theory though?

I'm a baby army and there are times when I don't feel like one but this is definitely not one of those times

Agust D 2 is going to kick our clown asses and we're gonna thank him for it lmao The wax door is based on Anish Kapoor's work where he depicts a giant block of wax going through a door and losing part of it to fit through. In Shadow's case, it could mean a person who lost a part of themselves to gain something (like fame, for instance). "The brighter the light, the darker the shadow" is a quote by Carl Jung. Shadow Yoongi was watching from the shadows of the camera flashes while Persona Suga was onstage. I imagine that at some point, Yoongi felt the pressure from his viewpoint on stage looking out at us ARMYs how much responsibility he has as a member of BTS. You mentioned Yoongi crying at one of the big award shows: that was AMAs 2017 Vlive and he talked about how he cried in the shower after they performed because he was terrified about their quick rise to fame. If I had to make a theory, I assume that was when he lost part of himself in a sense; he started making music so he could be heard but it turned into something stressful for him when he started questioning their future success and possible downfall. He wanted to be "the top" but eventually realized he didn't want to be AT the top because it's so lonely. Comeback is gonna be so interesting for sure and girl we're all in the same clown car lmao
