Great job this is cool would love to see more but…the sound of crickets in the house?!?! I don’t think you need it. It’s dark we know it’s night time. Never the less good stuff.

Maybe should have been turned down a smidge. But watch your favorite scary movie and listen to the sound design when in a house at night. You almost always hear crickets in the sound design 😅. I actually even heard them while filming before adding them in post. I studied many horror films before I did the sound in this.

@@TheyCallMeCotton you could be right it is used a lot. I think maybe subconsciously I needed an exterior shot to put me in that place you know like the suburbs. I did like this a lot I feel that there are no useless shots. Sometimes people want to impress others with the “cool” shots and they forget to serve the story. This was great. The shots are well planned, they work, they look good and above all the pace is perfect, the scene keeps moving and draws you in. Now work on a longer piece you’ve got it. Just a quick question.Did you do this alone? Maybe make a video talking about it from a director’s perspective. Thank you

@@geniicube9585 yeah it is but you're right.. Could have been turned down just a smidge more so it's not so in your face. Yeah, I did this by myself though for practise. No budget, a few hrs, just me and the wife. I could def make a video breaking this down! Wish I could gave gotten some bts

@@geniicube9585 pacing was actually my biggest focus when I was editing
You can see this cameras limitations in low light. A lot of noise in the dark areas

No it's actually just a bad export. I edit on the free version of resolve and learn that the encoder in the free version of the program exports very poor quality h.264 files. The actual footage from this is very clean and this short was very well lit. I exported a dnxhr 444 file and it's perfectly clean. The free version exporter just doesn't do well when you darken footage or with dark footage in general then export to standard h.264 or h.265. This low light quality is the export, not the camera
How many cameras did you use?

Thank you for making a film with no bad language in it. People think bad language has to be injected into a film to make it good but that is untrue. Very good, well shot and the lighting was just mysterious enough to keep you in the dark 👌
