I might have to agree with you. I play this in the Texas dive bars, and everyone is jammin out to it. It's a great bar song.

Technically not a cover or even a sample. It's really an interpolation of the song. Which in my opinion is so much better because he had to frame a new song around something familiar but not blatantly obvious. I love seeing the reaction from people when they realize the connection. It took me until the 2nd verse for it to fully click and I was like "hot damn". I love everything I've heard of Shaboozey, he's just got that fire.

As a keen eye of watching the country scene use rap cadences with some of their bigger acts like The Big and Riches, Sam Hunt and Trace Adkins of the world its only great to have a black southern artist use a very fun song about getting drunk from the crunk era of hiphop. I've always done country verisons of songs on the radio as a joke while growing up because it rangs true if someone can take vocals from anyhting espically rap and add some guitars and live instrumentalization it connects with people like people making rock versions of very popular rap songs it just hits a dopamine to many music listners
