American suburbs suck because it’s boring, not walkable and looks depressing (they all look the same). And you need to drive everywhere, even doing simple daily tasks like running errands and getting groceries requires a car because suburbs are built to be car-dependant and so it neglects pedestrian infrastructure. Everything is further apart and shops are located in strip malls that contains large parking lots that are larger than the shops themselves which pushes the distance between places even further. Being a pedestrian in a typical american suburb is an absolute nightmare. And most suburbs look the same, lacking in individuality and uniqueness. Most of them also look ugly and not pleasurable to look at.

It sucks but that's the way it is, American cities began declining in the 1950s. With few exceptions, most american urban areas are terrible places to live. Go to St Louis, see how you like it. The best cities are in Asia, East Asia. And in Dallas, no Chinese chooses to live in the city.

@@MidwestBrother Yea it’s honestly sad to see that. It is especially true for Midwest (Rust belt) cities like Detroit where it was once a prosperous and affluent city booming with auto industry but now Detroit is a dead wasteland with one of the highest crime rates in the country because of the economic decline in Rust belt cities due to the relocation of jobs and industry from that region to other regions like East Coast and others. I agree with you, perhaps the only choice for new immigrants to settle is the suburbs, because safety and education are the most important factors for new immigrants especially Asians and suburbs is the only place that is safe and has good schools.

@@MidwestBrother From my understanding, what you said about Chinese not living in Downtown Dallas is true. Downtown Dallas is kind of boring anyways, I would not even call it a downtown… it lacks character or uniqueness, it is just like any other American city, and it is also not safe. So it makes sense that chinese people wouldn’t wanna live Downtown. Most Asians that settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth region choose to live in suburban towns like Plano and Frisco. Plano is a booming town with many Chinese people living there. Do you happen to live in Dallas?

@@MidwestBrother sorry, I should’ve made myself more clear… when I said “Dallas” I refer to the Dallas-Fort Worth region… which also includes suburban towns like Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney etc. The reason I know so much about Texas is because I’ve done some research about the state and its cities. I like geography and I like to learn about different places around the world. I live in Toronto, Canada.
