SFC Student Challenge Award 2024: ReVogue: Crafting Conscious Couture

Challenge topic: Decarbonising Fashion, Elevating Awareness, Towards Zero-Waste
Our solution for a zero-waste future is sparking a movement called “Re-vogue” which is reusing past season items/ unwanted clothings and repurposing into a new valuable design with enhanced functionality of modularity features. The movement emphasises on reducing, reusing, and repurposing.
The movement will be pitched to the influential parties in fashion; fashion brands, fashion institutes, and NGOs, which could make sustainable fashion accessible to the mass consumers.
Fashion brands
Our idea will be pitched to fashion brands to reduce using new fabric by reusing fabric from past-season or unsold inventories and repurposing them into high-value items. These exquisite pieces could then be worn by celebrities and influencers which promotes the idea to a wide audience.
NGO and fashion institute
Our idea is to forge collaborations between Non-Government Organisations and students in fashion institutes to work on sustainability innovation in fashion as they will determine the next generation.
For instance, we planned a collaboration with SCWO Singapore to repurpose their unsold thrift shop items to create valuable garments with higher functionality where pieces can be worn for different occasions and as detachable accessories.
The new valuable garments could be sold or auctioned to support the organisation’s mission.The action could empower a wider audience to support and participate in sustainable fashion, environment, and ethical welfare.
Imagine if this action is done by more parties in the fashion industry, fashion waste will be reduced to a higher extent. The idea also supports in elevating awareness about fashion waste and supports decarbonisation of fashion waste, therefore influencing them to take action and practice sustainability in their daily lives.
Through ReVogue movement; crafting conscious couture, every thread tells a story of renewal and every garment embodies a vision of a better tomorrow.
